Background & Role Overview
The Group Financial Accountant supports the Group Financial Controller in delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining a strong financial control environment, and ensuring compliance across the Group's UK and Saudi Arabian operations.
The role acts as the bridge between transactional finance and financial leadership, taking ownership of management accounting, balance sheet integrity, revenue recognition, VAT compliance, intercompany accounting, and month-end reporting processes. The role provides challenge, analysis, and insight to support informed business decision-making while ensuring financial records are accurate, complete, and audit-ready.
Working closely with operational and commercial stakeholders, the Group Financial Accountant will support the development of robust financial processes, controls, and reporting capabilities to enable the continued growth of the organisation. The role will also provide guidance and oversight to the Group Finance Assistant, ensuring transactional processing is completed accurately and efficiently.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
Travel Requirements
Regular travel between the UK and Saudi Arabia is required (frequency based on operational needs, typically monthly or bi-monthly).

Role Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts for Group entities.
- Prepare month-end journals including accruals, prepayments, and revenue adjustments.
- Produce financial reports and management information to support decision-making.
- Perform detailed variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year performance.
- Support preparation of consolidated financial information for Group reporting.
Balance Sheet Control & Reconciliations
- Own the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process across Group entities.
- Review and investigate balance sheet movements and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.
- Maintain supporting documentation for key balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and month-end close process.
Revenue Recognition & Professional Services Accounting
- Support the accurate application of revenue recognition in accordance with IFRS 15.
- Review project profitability, accrued income and deferred income balances.
- Assist operational teams in understanding financial performance of projects.
- Support margin analysis and financial performance reporting.
Taxation, Compliance & Statutory Reporting
- Support tax compliance and statutory reporting requirements across the Group.
- Assist the Group Financial Controller with external audit and compliance activities.
- Maintain financial records in accordance with internal policies and accounting standards.
Audit & Financial Controls
- Coordinate and collate audit samples and supporting documentation.
- Execute and monitor key financial controls.
- Support the development, documentation, and testing of financial controls and processes.
- Identify control weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.
Business Partnering
- Partner with operational and commercial stakeholders to understand financial performance drivers.
- Provide insight and analysis to support operational decision-making.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
Systems Management & Process Improvement
- Support the optimisation of Xero, Zoho, and other finance systems.
- Drive process improvements, standardisation, and automation opportunities.
- Support implementation of new systems and reporting tools as required.
- Continuously improve reporting accuracy and efficiency across the finance function.

Team Management & Support
- Provide guidance and support to the Group Finance Assistant as required.
- Review transactional processing to ensure completeness and accuracy (UK team only)
- Promote best practice financial processes and controls throughout the finance team.
Key Competencies
Technical Competencies
- Strong management accounting and financial reporting capability.
- Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations and month-end accounts.
- Solid understanding of VAT compliance and financial controls.
- Working knowledge of IFRS and revenue recognition principles, particularly IFRS 15.
- Strong Excel and financial systems skills.
- Experience operating within a multi-entity environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.

Requirements
Essential
- Fully qualified or finalist ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
- Experience preparing management accounts and month-end reporting.
- Strong balance sheet reconciliation experience.
- Understanding of IFRS 15 revenue recognition.
- Experience with accruals, prepayments, and journal postings.
- Experience supporting external audits.
- Strong Excel and financial systems skills.
- Experience working within a multi-entity environment.
- Strong analytical and business partnering capabilities.
Desirable
- Experience working in a Consultant/Contractor-centric organisation
- Experience using Xero and/or Zoho.
- Experience supporting finance transformation projects.
- Exposure to Saudi Arabian entities or international group structures.
