Group Financial Accountant – 15 Month FTC

Ideal 1st or 2nd move from Mid to Large Practice

Sheffield | Hybrid working – 3 days on site

£55,000 – £60,000 + Benefits

Eaton Syalon are exclusively partnering our client on a sole agency basis to recruit a Group Financial Accountant on a 15-month fixed term contract, covering a period of maternity leave.

This is a broad group role and a great opportunity for a technically strong accountant who enjoys being close to the detail, but also wants exposure across a listed, multi entity business.

Working closely with the Group Financial Controller and wider senior finance team, you’ll take ownership across Group reporting, statutory consolidation and technical accounting, alongside broader month-end, cashflow, budgeting and forecasting activity.

There’s plenty of interaction with divisional finance teams and, alongside the Group reporting responsibilities, approximately one week in four will involve supporting wider Central Finance/month-end activity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Producing half-year and year-end Group statutory consolidations, including IFRS consolidation adjustments
  • Supporting preparation of the Group Annual Report, disclosures and statutory accounts
  • Acting as a key point of contact for external audit
  • Reviewing and challenging divisional inputs into Group reporting
  • Supporting UK statutory reporting and taxation requirements
  • Maintaining and advising on technical accounting areas including IFRS 16
  • Supporting areas including impairment, going concern, EPS, share-based payments, ECL and tax for Group reporting
  • Supporting preparation of the Central Finance Pack for Board review
  • Preparing the Group's fortnightly eight-week cashflow forecast and reporting for the senior leadership team
  • Supporting Central Finance month-end, including balance sheet reconciliations, FX/intercompany entries and management reporting
  • Supporting the budgeting and forecasting cycle, including consolidation and variance analysis
  • Building strong relationships with finance teams across the wider Group

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The full role also provides exposure to consolidation reporting, multi-currency reporting, statutory accounts and technical accounting, giving it considerably more breadth than a traditional Financial Accounting position.

Experience Required:

  • You’ll be a qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA (or equivalent) with a strong technical grounding and good knowledge of IFRS.
  • You may have trained in practice and moved into industry, be considering your first move from practice, or already be working within a Group Accounting environment.
  • More important is your exposure to areas such as consolidations, statutory reporting, audit and technical accounting, ideally within a multi-entity environment. Previous exposure to multi-currency businesses would be particularly useful.
  • You’ll need to be comfortable working with detail and equally happy moving between technical Group reporting and broader month-end activity. You’ll be able to challenge and interpret financial information and build strong relationships with finance teams and senior stakeholders across the business.
  • Strong Excel skills are essential. Experience of consolidation reporting tools would be useful, but isn't essential.
