Group Financial Accountant
Nottingham – one day per week at Head Office
£60,000–£65,000 + bonus

Eaton Syalon is partnering exclusively with a large, established organisation to recruit a technically strong Group Financial Accountant into its team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant who enjoys statutory reporting, technical accounting and working across a complex, multi-entity business.
Reporting to the UK Financial Controller, you will play a key role in delivering accurate statutory reporting across a number of UK legal entities, supporting the year-end audit process and helping to maintain a strong financial control environment.
With only one day per week required at the Nottingham Head Office, the role offers significant flexibility alongside exposure to senior stakeholders, finance improvement projects and wider strategic initiatives.
The role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing year-end statutory financial statements for multiple UK legal entities in accordance with UK GAAP, FRS 102 and Group accounting policies
- Supporting the external audit process, acting as a key point of contact for auditors and ensuring statutory accounts are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines
- Assisting with the preparation of corporation tax reporting packs and working with external tax advisers where required
- Completing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information
- Supporting regulatory and statutory reporting requirements, including Companies House filings
- Maintaining a robust financial control environment and identifying opportunities to improve processes and strengthen compliance with Group policies
- Working closely with colleagues across Finance, Operations and Legal to gather information and ensure statutory reporting is complete and accurate
- Supporting technical accounting research and the implementation of new accounting standards
- Contributing to finance improvement and transformation initiatives to enhance reporting processes and operational efficiency
- Providing ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support the UK Deputy Financial Controller and wider strategic projects
- Maintaining accounting records that meet audit requirements and reflect best practice

About you
This opportunity would suit someone looking to make their first move into industry from a Big Four or Top 10 accountancy firm, as well as an experienced Financial Accountant already working within industry who is ready for their next challenge.
The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:
- ACA, ACCA or an equivalent professional accounting qualification
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and FRS 102
- Experience preparing statutory accounts across one or more legal entities
- Previous involvement in year-end audits and confidence working directly with external auditors
- Excellent analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience using a recognised ERP or financial system, such as SAP, Oracle or similar
- The ability to communicate clearly and build strong working relationships across finance and non-finance teams
- A proactive and improvement-focused approach
- A collaborative working style and a commitment to accuracy, integrity and continuous improvement

Experience within a large group or multi-site organisation would be advantageous, as would knowledge of corporation tax and deferred tax accounting.
Previous involvement in finance transformation, systems improvement or process improvement projects would also be beneficial. Automotive sector experience would be welcomed, although it is not essential.
