Carl Meyler Associates has been retained by a successful and rapidly growing, privately owned Technology enabled service group that is entering an exciting new phase of its development.

The Group has grown significantly through a combination of organic expansion and acquisition, with revenues expected to increase substantially this year alongside a significant improvement in profitability.

With further growth, international expansion and acquisitions planned, the business is now strengthening its leadership and finance infrastructure to support the next stage of its journey.

The Opportunity

This newly created Group Financial Controller role reports directly to the Finance Director and provides an excellent opportunity to play a key role in developing a finance function capable of supporting a larger, more complex and increasingly international organisation.

The role will have broad responsibility across financial control, reporting, governance and operational finance, including:

  • Leading and developing the finance team, ensuring that it meets the demands of a high growth environment.
  • Ownership of month-end close and consolidated management accounts.
  • Strengthening financial controls, governance and reporting.
  • Treasury, cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
  • Oversight of all statutory reporting and compliance activities.
  • Supporting further acquisition integration and harmonisation of finance processes.
  • Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities across the group.
  • Developing stronger business partnering across the organisation to aid tactical and strategic decision making.
  • Seek to Improve current systems, reporting, automation and management information.

Working closely with the Finance Director, you will also act as a key senior member of the finance function, providing commercial insight and constructive challenge to the wider leadership team.

The business is also preparing for its next phase of investment and value creation, making this an important appointment at a pivotal stage of its growth.

About you:

We are looking for a technically strong and commercially minded finance professional who enjoys operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and acquisitive environment.

You will ideally be an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant, with experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader and a track record of developing teams, strengthening financial controls and improving reporting.

Experience within a growing, acquisitive or private equity-backed environment would be highly relevant. Just as importantly, you will be proactive, credible and hands-on, with the confidence to work across the organisation and the ambition to develop alongside the business.

The successful candidate will be required to be on site each day in order to both lead the existing finance team but also create strong working relationships with key leaders across the business. Therefore, applicant must reside within commutable travelling distance to Chorley, Lancashire.
