Group Financial Controller

Location: East Midlands / Birmingham (Hybrid Working)

Salary: Circa £90,000 + Benefits

The Opportunity

We are working with a well-established, growing professional services organisation to appoint a Group Financial Controller. This is a rare opportunity to join a highly regarded business during an exciting period of finance transformation and growth.

Reporting directly to the CFO, this role combines strong technical accounting expertise with operational leadership and change management. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing the finance function, improving processes and controls, and helping to build a platform capable of supporting the next phase of the organisation's growth.

This is far more than a traditional controllership position. You'll be a trusted member of the senior finance leadership team, working closely with stakeholders across the business while leading a capable team and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

The Role

The Group Financial Controller will oversee the core financial control environment and lead several key operational finance functions. You will be responsible for ensuring robust financial governance whilst helping modernise processes, systems and reporting capabilities across the business.

The role offers significant exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to influence how the finance function evolves over the coming years.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Control & Governance

  • Ownership of the financial control framework across the business
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and financial regulations
  • Lead the year-end audit process and maintain relationships with external auditors and advisors
  • Oversee technical accounting matters and provide expertise to the wider business
  • Support tax compliance activities and external reporting requirements

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
