The Opportunity:
A high-growth, Private Equity-backed SaaS and Consulting business is looking to appoint a Group Financial Controller as a true number two to the CFO.
With revenues of approximately £55m and EBITDA of c.£5m, the Group has established a strong position within its market and continues to grow year-on-year through a combination of organic growth and M&A.
With further growth planned and an ambitious three-year exit horizon, this is a highly visible leadership position offering the opportunity to play a pivotal role in the next stage of the Group's development.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the Group CFO, the Group Financial Controller will take a leading role across the finance function, acting as a key partner to the CFO, wider Board and senior operational leadership team.
This is much more than a traditional controllership position. The successful individual will take ownership of the day-to-day leadership of the finance function while helping to professionalise, strengthen and scale the organisation's financial infrastructure.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the CFO's right hand, providing commercial and financial insight across the Group.
- Leading, developing and motivating the wider finance team, creating a high-performance and accountable culture.
- Taking ownership of the Group's financial control environment, reporting and accounting processes.
- Raising the standards of the finance function to meet the expectations of a Private Equity-backed, high-growth organisation.
- Driving improvements across systems, processes, controls and reporting as the Group continues to scale.
- Supporting the integration of acquired businesses and ensuring consistent financial processes and reporting across the Group.
- Working closely with the CFO on Board reporting, PE reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
- Partnering with senior unit leaders to provide insight, challenge and commercial support.
- Providing the CFO and Board with clear, accurate and timely financial information to support decision-making.
- Helping develop the finance function and wider business in preparation for the Group's future exit.
- Building a culture of energy, pace, ownership and continuous improvement within the finance team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Importantly, this role would suit someone who is not simply looking after the numbers, but wants to take ownership of a finance function, influence the wider business and work closely with an experienced CFO through a significant period of growth and value creation.
This is an opportunity to join a business at a particularly exciting stage of its journey.
The successful individual will have significant exposure to the CFO, Board, Private Equity investors and operational leadership team, while playing a central role in the Group's continued M&A, organic growth and professionalisation.
For an ambitious Financial Controller looking to step into a genuine second-in-command position, or an existing Group FC looking for greater strategic exposure and a clear path towards Finance Director/CFO-level responsibility, this represents an excellent opportunity to make a tangible impact.
