Group Financial Controller

Location: Staffordshire / West Midlands
Salary: £100,000 + benefits

A leading business is seeking an experienced Group Financial Controller to join its finance leadership. This is a high-profile role offering significant exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to play a key part in supporting strategic decision-making across a complex, multi-entity business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely group reporting, overseeing consolidation activities, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and ensuring the highest standards of financial governance and compliance.

Group Financial Controller Responsibilities

Reporting into the Group Finance leadership team, key responsibilities will include:

  • Producing and analysing monthly group financial results, identifying key trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Preparing insightful financial and performance reports for senior management and executive stakeholders.
  • Managing the annual budgeting process and supporting strategic planning activities.
  • Leading the monthly forecasting process, including capital expenditure planning and cash flow analysis.
  • Ensuring the integrity and consistency of financial information submitted across multiple business units.
  • Maintaining and developing accounting policies, procedures and internal control frameworks.
  • Leading the preparation of group statutory financial statements under UK GAAP.
  • Acting as a key contact for external auditors and managing the annual audit process.
  • Preparing technical accounting papers and supporting significant accounting judgements.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives across finance systems, controls and reporting processes.

The Successful Candidate

  • ACA qualified with at least 5 years' post-qualified experience.
  • Experienced in group consolidation and senior-level financial reporting.
  • Technically strong with a solid understanding of FRS 102 and UK statutory reporting requirements.
  • Comfortable operating within a complex, multi-entity environment, ideally with international exposure.
  • Experienced in supporting external audits and managing multiple stakeholder relationships.
  • A confident communicator capable of translating complex financial information into meaningful commercial insight.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exposure to foreign currencies, international subsidiaries and intercompany trading.
  • Proven experience enhancing financial controls and driving process improvement initiatives.
