Group Financial Controller | Bristol | £95,000 - £130,000 + Benefits
We are seeking an exceptionally sharp, strategic, and leadership-focused Group Financial Controller to join a fast-growing and acquisitive business in East Bristol.
This is a high-impact opportunity for an ambitious finance leader ready to shape strategy at pace in a genuine scale-up environment. You will lead a multi-disciplinary team of 15 across management accounts, technical compliance, and global payroll, driving financial governance, complex global consolidations, and the integration of newly acquired entities. It's a role built for someone who thrives on building high-performing teams, challenging the status quo, and delivering commercially meaningful insight to board-level stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Development: Direct, mentor, and empower a 15-person finance team across management accounting, technical finance, and payroll. Foster a collaborative, performance-driven culture with high-quality standards.
- Group Consolidations & Financial Reporting: Own the end-to-end month-end close and statutory reporting process for all UK and overseas subsidiaries, ensuring compliance with relevant IFRS/UK GAAP frameworks. Act as the primary point of contact for external group auditors.
- M&A Integration & Due Diligence: Act as a key finance lead during acquisitions, driving financial integration, post-merger harmonization of accounting policies, and onboarding acquired finance functions.
- Critical Thinking & Commercial Insight: Interrogate data across international operating units to provide variance analysis, identifying cash flow drivers, emerging risks, and margin optimization opportunities.
- Control Framework & Risk: Continuously review, design, and enforce robust internal control frameworks across international entities to mitigate operational and reporting risk.

Qualifications
- Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with substantial post-qualified experience
Leadership Track Record
- Proven experience managing and scaling cross-functional finance teams (~10 direct/indirect reports) with a strong reputation as an empathetic, high-energy leader.
International & SME Experience
- Exposure to medium-sized, multi-currency global businesses, with hands-on experience across local accounting standards, audit, and group consolidations.
Acquisitive Mindset
- Direct experience navigating mergers and acquisitions (M&A) or fast-scaling business models.
Analytical Capability
- Exceptional critical thinking and questioning skills; comfortable challenging senior stakeholders and translating complex data into clear corporate narratives.
