Group Financial Controller

Location: Hillingdon (Hybrid)
Package: £100,000 - £110,000 + Bonus

The Opportunity

A private equity-backed professional services business is seeking an experienced Group Financial Controller to join its leadership team. Operating across multiple entities and specialist service lines, the business has built a strong market position and continues to invest in growth, operational improvement and technology-enabled transformation.

Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a high-impact role offering significant exposure to senior leadership and investors. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the financial control environment across the group, ensuring robust reporting, governance and compliance while supporting strategic decision-making and ongoing business improvement initiatives.

The Role

This is a broad, hands-on leadership position overseeing financial control, reporting, treasury and transactional finance activities across a multi-entity group. The role combines strong technical accounting expertise with commercial insight and a continuous improvement mindset.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading day-to-day finance operations across multiple entities
  • Ownership of monthly group management accounts and consolidated reporting
  • Managing month-end and year-end close processes
  • Producing board, lender and investor reporting packs
  • Full responsibility for statutory accounts, external audits and tax compliance
  • Ownership of balance sheet integrity, reconciliations and financial controls
  • Oversight of treasury activities, cash flow forecasting and working capital management
  • Managing payroll, pensions and related compliance obligations
  • Driving budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes
  • Business partnering with operational leaders and senior stakeholders
  • Strengthening finance policies, governance frameworks and internal controls
  • Supporting finance transformation, process improvements and systems enhancements
  • Leading, mentoring and developing an established finance team

Candidate Profile

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller or Head of Finance
  • Strong technical accounting background including statutory reporting, consolidations and audit management
  • Experience operating within multi-entity environments
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, governance and compliance
  • Experience overseeing transactional finance functions alongside reporting responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of treasury, VAT, PAYE, payroll and wider finance operations
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong finance systems capability
  • Demonstrated track record of process improvement and finance transformation
  • Commercially minded with the ability to translate financial information into practical business insight
  • Strong leadership skills with experience developing high-performing finance teams
  • Prior experience within private equity-backed, growth-focused or change-oriented businesses is advantageous
