A leading international investment management business is seeking to appoint a senior Financial Controller to join its senior finance team.

This is a new role reflecting the organisation's continued growth and increasing scale through organic expansion and strategic acquisitions.

Role Overview

Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a broad finance leadership position with responsibility across financial control, reporting, governance, and the continued development of the Group finance function. The Finance Director will also play a key role in supporting acquisitions and integration, while driving improvements through technology, automation, and AI.

The role combines senior-level influence with a hands-on approach and offers significant exposure to the CFO and wider leadership team, with genuine scope to shape the future direction of finance as the business continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take senior ownership of the Group financial control environment, management reporting, and statutory reporting.
  • Act as a key business partner to the CFO and senior leadership, providing financial insight and constructive challenge.
  • Lead finance involvement in acquisitions, including due diligence, transaction support, and post-acquisition integration.
  • Ensure finance processes, controls, and reporting remain scalable as the business grows internationally.
  • Drive finance transformation through improved systems, automation, data, and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Oversee the year-end audit and relationships with auditors, tax advisers, and other professional advisers.
  • Provide senior oversight across budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and wider financial planning.
  • Develop the finance team and support the CFO on broader strategic and commercial initiatives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
