Financial Controller with Route to Finance Director

Cooper Parry Finance Recruitment is delighted to be supporting, on an exclusive basis, a long-established family-owned business in the search for a Financial Controller with route to Finance Director in Fife. For finance professionals who value trust, a broad remit, and meaningful relationships, opportunities like this are increasingly rare. The group (circa £75mill t/o across all entities) has achieved sustained growth over several decades whilst maintaining a genuine family-business culture where decisions are made quickly, contributions are recognised and people are encouraged to build long-term careers.

The Opportunity

As part of a planned succession process, the group is seeking a senior finance professional to join the leadership team in a broad and highly visible role. Reporting directly to the owners, you will take responsibility for the finance function across a portfolio of businesses, balancing strong financial control with commercial support and strategic input.

This is a role for someone who enjoys taking full ownership of the finance function. You'll be responsible for safeguarding the financial position of the group, financial reporting, strengthening controls, managing cash and risk, and providing trusted advice to the owners and business leaders. Whilst there is a strategic element, success will come from being a visible, hands-on leader who is comfortable operating both in the detail and at leadership level.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
