Overall Purpose of The Job

To lead on Group FP&A activity, resulting in delivery of high quality information to V.Group Management to inform key decisions and drive sustainable business growth.

To lead and develop regular forecasting and long-term planning processes, and work closely with colleagues to continually increase visibility and improvement in underpinning drivers of business performance.

To play a key role in the development of business intelligence and data utilisation across V.Group, as well as contributing key information to support business growth (new business, pricing, margin improvement). To apply this data for improved analytics targeted at company strength and growth, aligned to the V. strategy.

To be central in driving improvement to management information, applied for decision making. Provide a first lens of challenge and take responsibility for applying commercial reasoning for financial performance.

Key Responsibilities And Tasks

  • Build strong relationships across Group and corporate functions to drive open two-way flow of key information. This role would suit an engaging and inquisitive professional, motivated by delivering high quality business insights and influencing change.
  • Coordinate FP&A responsibilities, effectively engaging and utilising resources across the organisation.
  • With direct insight into the V. strategic planning, through coordination with the BU team and corporate team, the FP&A Lead is an ambassador for the wider Group strategic goals, facilitating V. development / breaking down silos.
  • Drive consistency of FP&A activity across V, taking a lead on Group forecasting, budgeting, and long term planning processes. This will involve both coordination across the business and thought leadership in the development of these critical processes.
  • Impact the management of data and its application for business intelligence, working closely with Data and Analytics team, being a key player in the Group’s development in this space.
  • Develop reporting to demonstrate granular financial performance across vessels, customers and offices, identifying trends and opportunities that can be actioned.
  • Lead development and delivery of Senior Management information including investments packs, risk matrices and valuation assessments, for decision making for the Board and Executive meetings.
  • Develop and escalate relevant key performance metrics across the business, supporting both performance reporting/indicators and providing forecasting drivers.
  • Challenge business colleagues and work closely with FP&A leads and Finance Business Partners, in the development of actions to drive improvement in underlying business drivers.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the rolling forecast process, and ongoing advancement of the annual and long term planning process.
  • Develop analysis and proposals to support business development and efficiencies, and support M&A activity with strong financial modelling.
  • Assist Finance Director and Group management on ad-hoc requests as required.

Essential

  • Professional accounting qualification (or relevant post-graduate qualification).
  • Strong demonstrated commercial awareness in reputable large organisations.
  • Exceptional presentation skills.
  • Computer literacy: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI / other BI tools (preferable)
  • Very comfortable dealing with large datasets, with respect to data organisation and identifying key messages.
