Group Financial Reporting and Controls Analyst
Are you a qualified accountant looking to develop your expertise in financial reporting, controls and compliance? Join our Group Finance team in Liverpool and play a key role in supporting financial reporting, audit, tax compliance and financial controls across Peel Ports Group.
Your Role
As our Financial Reporting & Controls Analyst, you will help deliver accurate and compliant financial reporting across the Group by supporting key controls, reconciliations and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
- Support tax compliance activities, including VAT and statutory submissions across multiple legal entities
- Contribute to the preparation of statutory accounts, financial reporting packs and year-end reporting
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Finance, Tax and Internal Audit
- Support audit activities, control monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen our financial control environment
- Contribute to wider projects, including due diligence activities, process improvements and the adoption of new technologies within Finance

What you'll bring
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) with experience in financial accounting, reporting, audit or controls-related activities.
In addition, you will have:
- Experience supporting financial controls, reconciliations and compliance activities
- Experience working with statutory reporting and audit requirements
- A good understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting and finance processes
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate, identify and resolve accounting discrepancies
- Experience using SAP within a financial accounting environment
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
It would also be advantageous if you have:
- Knowledge of VAT and wider tax compliance processes
- Understanding of technical accounting areas such as intercompany accounting, fixed assets, payroll or revenue recognition
- Experience using Power BI, Power Automate and Microsoft Copilot
- An interest in automation, AI and the use of technology to strengthen finance processes and controls
