Associate Director – Product Quality & Compliance

Could you help us build an even stronger approach to product quality, compliance and supplier performance as we continue to grow?

At Curious Universe, we create products that spark imagination and creativity. Since 2018, we’ve grown rapidly and today sell more than 20 million products a year in 38 languages across 77 countries, spanning toys, arts & crafts, activity books, stationery and lifestyle products. We’re now looking for an experienced Associate Director – Product Quality & Compliance to provide leadership across three closely connected areas: Product Compliance, Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality.

This isn’t a role focused solely on checking products or managing regulatory requirements. We want someone who can help us build quality into the way we work – strengthening supplier performance, developing effective QA processes and ensuring customer and regulatory requirements translate into practical ways of working across the business.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading and developing our Product Compliance function.
  • Taking ownership of our approach to Supplier Quality Management.
  • Working directly with international suppliers to improve standards and reduce recurring quality issues.
  • Developing practical QA processes and quality gates across product development and production.
  • Ensuring retailer-specific technical, quality and compliance requirements are effectively embedded.
  • Leading the investigation and resolution of significant supplier, quality and compliance issues.
  • Building strong relationships with suppliers, laboratories, certification bodies and customer technical teams.
  • Developing meaningful quality and supplier-performance KPIs.
  • Using data, trends and root-cause analysis to drive continuous improvement.
  • Acting as a senior point of escalation and championing greater ownership of quality throughout the business.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You’ll also bring experience of working directly with overseas suppliers and manufacturing partners – ideally across Asia – and understand how to improve supplier performance through clear expectations, KPIs, root-cause analysis and corrective action.

Just as importantly, you’ll be someone who can influence. You’ll work across Production, Procurement, Product Development, Commercial and senior leadership, so you’ll need to combine strong technical judgement with commercial awareness, pragmatism and excellent communication skills.
