About The Role
We’re looking for a Group Head of Risk Management to shape and strengthen risk management across Balfour Beatty. In this role, you’ll lead the development and evolution of our Enterprise Risk Management framework, ensuring risk management supports strategic decision-making, operational performance and long-term business success.
Working closely with senior leaders, you’ll provide independent oversight of a broad range of strategic, commercial, operational, financial and regulatory risks across a complex international business.
This is a highly visible leadership position with regular exposure to the Executive Committee and Board.
What you'll be doing
- Lead and continuously enhance the Group's Enterprise Risk Management framework.
- Shape risk strategy, policy and standards, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Deliver insightful risk reporting to Executive and Board-level stakeholders.
- Oversee the identification, assessment and management of key strategic and operational risks.
- Provide independent challenge and oversight of major projects, bids, contracts and investment decisions.
- Drive effective management of emerging risks, including market, regulatory, cyber, supply chain and climate-related risks.
- Lead horizon scanning, scenario planning and risk-based decision-making activities.
- Strengthen the integration of risk management, internal controls, compliance and assurance activities.
- Build risk capability across the business through engagement, coaching and training.
- Champion a positive risk culture that supports operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Who we're looking for
- Significant experience in risk management, governance, internal audit or related disciplines.
- Proven track record of leading risk functions within large, complex organisations.
- Strong understanding of enterprise risk management frameworks and corporate governance.
- Experience engaging with and influencing executive leaders, committees and Boards.
- Ability to provide constructive challenge and drive informed decision-making.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
