The Role
Own Health & Safety across all hotels in the UK and Europe operated by Valor Hospitality. One group standard, one point of ownership, a real difference to guests and teams.
Valor is growing fast, and we want every hotel in our portfolio to be a safe place to stay and a safe place to work. This is a new in-house role. You'll take group-level ownership of Health & Safety compliance across 41 properties in the UK and Europe, with oversight of guest and team security alongside it.
You'll report to our Operations Directors and partner with General Managers, Operations Managers and property teams across the portfolio. You won't have direct reports. You'll lead through influence, credibility and practical, workable standards that teams want to follow.
What You'll Be Doing
- Owning group-wide Health & Safety compliance, with policies and procedures that reflect current legislation in every country we operate in
- Leading and overseeing risk assessments across kitchens, housekeeping, maintenance, guest areas and manual handling
- Investigating accidents, incidents and near-misses, keeping statutory records and managing reporting such as RIDDOR
- Making sure H&S training is practical, relevant and properly embedded in our hotels, so it's understood and applied day to day rather than ticked off
- Auditing hotels, tracking corrective actions through to completion, and reporting compliance to group leadership
- Leading crisis planning and operational resilience across the group, from business continuity to lessons-learned reviews, and making sure hotel teams know what to do when it matters
- Working closely with Operations, Property and Procurement, and managing our third-party safety partners and suppliers so best practice is adopted everywhere
- Overseeing guest and team security across the group: reviewing physical and access security measures, managing our security suppliers, and making sure security training lands with hotel teams

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
