Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Integration and Development Manager to lead the integration and development functions across the Hospitals Group. This pivotal role will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a responsive, high-quality service that supports organisational priorities and digital transformation objectives.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers and partner organisations, the post holder will lead the strategic planning, implementation, maintenance and ongoing optimisation of integration technologies, ensuring systems remain resilient, reliable and aligned with the organisation's long-term vision. The role will also drive the continued evolution of the integration and development teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and professional development.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will oversee the integration and development work programme, ensuring effective prioritisation and delivery of projects, enhancements and support activities.

  • Lead the planning and implementation of system upgrades
  • Manage the lifecycle of integration platforms
  • Review existing digital solutions to identify opportunities for improvement, standardisation and greater efficiency
  • Maximise the value of core clinical and corporate systems, particularly the Electronic Patient Record, through effective integration and development practices
  • Champion best practice, ensure system resilience and operational sustainability
  • Support the introduction of new technologies
  • Develop team capability through training, mentoring and skills development to meet current and future organisational needs

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities

The role includes participation in the IT on-call rota and occasional evening or weekend working.

This is an opportunity to shape the future of data and insight across a Group environment, supporting closer working across care organisations and wider system partners. We are looking for someone who is innovative, collaborative and inclusive, with the ability to develop partnerships and make best use of advanced analytics, forecasting and emerging technologies.

Person specification

Knowledge, Training and Experience

Essential criteria

  • Masters Degree or equivalent in numerical subject, and evidence of continuing professional development
  • Extensive experience working within a Software Development or Integration Team at a senior level in an Acute NHS Trust
  • Experience of managing people and large teams in a technical department
  • Experience of leading and effectuating successful change
  • Proven experience of resolving complex information issues and communicating these to staff at all levels
  • Full IT service lifecycle exposure (ITIL)
  • Expert Knowledge of Relational Database Development using Microsoft SQL, T-SQL and SSIS
  • Expert Knowledge of Web Development using Microsoft .NET, HTML/CSS and JavaScript
  • Detailed knowledge of interfacing with different technologies in a development environment using HL7 standards
  • Thorough knowledge in securing and auditing best practices within application development

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of working towards a post graduate qualification such as MBCS (Member of the British Computer Society) or other technical certification
  • Experience of budget management
  • Experience of supplier management
  • Experience of full end to end software development using Microsoft and Web Technologies (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Formal project management experience
  • Working knowledge of design architecture, data warehousing, and analytical methods
  • Knowledge of using Oracle SQL
  • Knowledge of robotic process automation
