About the position
Group Label Printing Director acts as the group’s go-to technical authority for flexographic, inkjet, and digital printing, solving live production issues from prepress through finishing. He also recovers critical lines and lock in durable solutions, while standardising centreline settings and best-known conditions across sites. He is a leader of industrialisations and product transfers, de-risking trials, and accelerating time-to-run.
The role also includes coaching and upskilling printers, shift leaders, and supervisors so improvements sustain without constant expert presence.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the on-press authority for flexographic, inkjet, and digital label printing; diagnose and correct issues from prepress → press → finishing.
- Recover critical lines and lock in sustainable fixes (registration, ghosting, mottling, pinholing, picking, lay-down, etc.).
- Establish center lining & best-known settings across substrates (PP/PE/PET/paper) and systems (UV/solvent/water-based; foils; coatings/varnishes).
- Lead product transfers & industrializations between EU plants; de-risk trials and validate at speed.
- Partner with plant leadership on machine capability decisions and maintenance priorities (flexographic, inkjet, and digital, hybrid/combination lines).
- Write clear, practical work instructions/checklists and coach shift leaders, printers, and supervisors on the shop floor.
- Travel extensively to embed improvements and ensure they stick.

Please note that experience with PSL (pressure-sensitive labels) is a requirement, and experience in this area is essential for a strong fit.

Preconditions
- Deep, hands-on track record in flexographic, inkjet and digital printing within labels/packaging; you’ve personally solved tough print problems on live jobs.
- Experience inside a label converter (PSL, sleeves, multilayer/tamper-evident, booklet labels) with measurable gains in OEE, waste, and quality.
- Competent across prepress & color management (fingerprinting, curves, profiles), inks/coatings/adhesives, substrates, die-cutting/finishing, and maintenance basics.
- Credibility on the shop floor; a calm teacher who can coach operators and supervisors.
- Languages: English required; Spanish/German/Italian an advantage.
- Mobile across Europe; comfortable with 60% travel.
