Group Leader - Manufacturing/Engineering
Altrad are currently recruiting for a Group Leader within manufacturing/Engineering to join our team based in Renfrew.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the organisation, development and growth of the team. This will include managing workload and project delivery, supporting technical quality, developing people and actively identifying new opportunities for Manufacturing Engineering services.
Key Deliverables
- Lead the Manufacturing Engineering team’s operational activities.
- Monitor team utilisation, project performance and opportunity development.
- Develop and deliver plans for growth of the relevant Manufacturing products required to meet AOP and LRP commitments.
- Grow and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team’s skills, competences and delivery model in line with AOP / LRP requirements and business development strategic direction.
- Grow and develop the team of Manufacturing Engineers, always ensuring suitable levels of SQEP and providing the team with career development and growth opportunities through regular coaching and mentoring.
- Provide Manufacturing governance and control to Manufacturing related projects.
- Oversee the project management of Manufacturing Engineering led projects ensuring safe, on time and on budget delivery.
- Develop and review proposals, scopes and cost estimates.
- Manage projects, including cost, schedule, resource and technical delivery.
- Ensure that all the Manufacturing Engineering team’s project contractual obligations are met.
- Oversee the allocation of SQEP resource and external delivery partners to projects to ensure they are fully resourced and reflected in the departments current and forward load plan.
- Have an overview of the preparation of all Manufacturing Engineering led commercial tenders ensuring that resourcing requirements are identified and planned for.
- Identify and develop key opportunities for the growth of Asset Management’s Manufacturing product portfolio with existing and new customers in line with BD strategy and direction.
- Provide technical support in the field of Manufacturing Engineering within Asset Management.

Key Requirements / Qualifications

- Degree-qualified in related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent is advantageous but not essential.
- Proven experience of managing a team, development and delivery of strategic goals and achieving operational growth in a similar technical role within a relevant industry sector.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial awareness with experience supporting proposals, business development or account growth.
- Ability to identify client requirements and convert them into defined scopes of work.
- Thorough understanding of all relevant QHSE, standards and expectations required to safely deliver our project commitments.
- Technical knowledge of Manufacturing Principles.
- Knowledge of Codes, Legislation, Company standards and quality procedures.
- Commercial and project management experience.
- Creative and innovative skills.
- Supervisory/Leadership/Coaching Experience essential.
- Proven project management expertise of large commercial projects including management of suppliers and subcontractors.
- Proven ability to build a rapport with new and existing clients.
- Thorough understanding of commercial contracting requirements and a proven ability to manage large third party contracts to budget and time constraints.
