About the job
GROUP MARKETING MANAGER
INDEPENDENT. FOOD-LED. FAST-GROWING. BLANK CANVAS.
What's in it for you?
- Up to £70,000 package, with excellent bonus structure
- A genuine blank canvas — full ownership of brand and marketing strategy from scratch, with no legacy guidelines to work within
- A high-visibility, senior role reporting directly into the Head of Operations, with direct access to ownership
- Join a business on an ambitious growth trajectory — a major new flagship site is already underway, with further sites in the pipeline
- The rare chance to also help shape marketing for a fast-growing business, including a major forthcoming project
- Lead and build out an existing sales and marketing team as the function grows around you
Who are they?
Our client is an independently group of premium, food-led pubs across Kent and East Sussex. With multiple sites currently and more on the way, they've built a strong reputation locally for individual, characterful venues rather than a branded chain feel. Growth has been entirely self-funded, with profits consistently reinvested back into the estate, meaning sites are well-maintained, well-loved, and constantly evolving. This is a hands-on, passionate, ownership-led business that wants marketing with the same energy and conviction as the food and the venues themselves — no corporate spiel, just genuine belief in the brand.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Get out on site regularly across the group to build relationships with teams and understand the business

What are we looking for?
- Proven marketing leadership experience within a multi-site pub, restaurant, casual dining or bar group.
- Wider drinks-sector experience is a bonus, but not essential
- Confident taking full ownership of brand and strategy rather than working within existing guidelines
- Direct, energetic and full of conviction — this is not a role for a corporate, numbers-first pitch
- Commercially minded, with a clear understanding of how marketing activity drives revenue
- Happy to be on-site regularly, particularly in the early months, to build trust with the team
