Group Memory Care & Lifestyle Specialist

Reporting to:

Director of Operations

Professional Stakeholders:

Group Clinical Specialist, Head of Operations, Hospitality Manager, Clinical Lead and Nurse Manager, Lifestyle Partners

Role Purpose

The Group Memory Care & Lifestyle Specialist will lead the development and delivery of exceptional, evidence-informed memory care and lifestyle experiences across Loveday. The role brings together specialist dementia knowledge, meaningful engagement, member experience, and luxury hospitality to ensure every member is known as an individual and supported to live with meaning, purpose, choice, dignity, and connection. This is a highly visible, hands-on group role. The postholder will set standards, coach teams in practice, support complex members and families, audit quality, develop innovative programmes, and ensure that lifestyle is embedded within everyday care rather than treated as a standalone activities function. Working closely with physicians and healthcare experts.

Role Responsibilities

  • Group-wide memory care philosophy, standards, and practice.
  • The quality, breadth, and personalisation of lifestyle and meaningful engagement across all residences.
  • Memory care environments, routines, and approaches that promote independence, orientation, comfort, and wellbeing.
  • Coaching and development of Lifestyle teams and support for care, nursing, and hospitality colleagues in delivering meaningful engagement.
  • Member life histories, preferences, interests, and routines being translated into individualised daily experiences promoting the Legacy Hub to ensure maximum usage.
  • Specialist support for members experiencing distress, changes in behaviour, transition, or increased cognitive need.
  • Family education and engagement relating to dementia, memory care, and meaningful occupation.
  • Quality assurance, audits, action plans, and continuous improvement relating to memory care and lifestyle.
  • Group events, partnerships, and external relationships that enhance member experience leveraging Loveday’s depth of relationships with healthcare stakeholders.
  • Development of innovative approaches that distinguish Loveday as a leader in luxury senior living and memory care.
  • Work to understand how the Geller Commission report can be leveraged to maximise the research and impact on our work.

Memory Care – Leadership

  • Act as the group subject-matter specialist for dementia and memory care, promoting compassionate, evidence-informed, and person-led practice.
  • Develop and maintain a clear Loveday memory care framework that reflects clinical best practice while remaining consistent with the Loveday member experience.
  • Support Registered Managers and clinical teams with complex presentations, including distress, anxiety, changes in behaviour, communication difficulties, and transitions.
  • Promote non-pharmacological approaches and meaningful occupation as part of the response to distress and unmet need.
  • Review the lived experience of members receiving memory care and identify opportunities to improve routines, environments, communication, and engagement.
  • Support teams to understand the person behind the diagnosis, including biography, relationships, occupation, culture, interests, preferences, and lifelong routines.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Lifestyle & Member Experience

  • Set the group standard for an exceptional lifestyle proposition, ensuring programmes are sophisticated, varied, purposeful, and tailored to the individuals living within each residence.
  • Move practice beyond a traditional activities calendar by embedding meaningful engagement throughout the member's entire day.
  • Ensure members have opportunities for physical, intellectual, cultural, creative, social, and sensory engagement, alongside quieter individual pursuits.
  • Champion choice and spontaneity, ensuring lifestyle programmes respond to members rather than expecting members to fit our schedule.
  • Work with hospitality, culinary, care, and clinical teams to create joined-up experiences reflecting a private members' club standard of service.
  • Develop signature Loveday experiences and partnerships appropriate to the interests and expectations of members.

Quality Assurance and Governance

  • Undertake regular memory care and lifestyle audits across residences, including observation of practice and member experience.
  • Produce clear action plans, monitor completion, and escalate recurring or material concerns.
  • Use member feedback, family feedback, incidents, complaints, observations, and quality data to identify themes and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support residences in demonstrating strong evidence against relevant CQC quality statements, particularly person-centered care, dignity, choice, independence, and responsive care.
  • Contribute to group governance reporting and provide assurance on memory care and lifestyle standards.
  • Support preparation for regulatory inspections, internal quality reviews, and due diligence activity where required.

Training, Coaching & Culture

  • Coach colleagues in real time, modelling exceptional interactions with members rather than relying solely on classroom training.
  • Develop and deliver practical training in dementia communication, meaningful engagement, life story work, responding to distress, and creating purposeful days.
  • Support induction and ongoing competency development for Lifestyle colleagues and other relevant team members.
  • Identify strong practice and create opportunities for it to be shared across the group.
  • Build a culture in which every colleague understands that creating a meaningful day is everyone's responsibility.
