Physical Availability Manager
The Physical Availability Manager is responsible for enhancing the performance and uptime of Caterpillar Mining Products at key mine sites. The role acts as the group champion for Physical Availability, converting data into actionable performance improvements, driving strategic initiatives, and aligning cross-functional stakeholders to improve equipment availability, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Objectives
- Improve equipment physical availability and uptime across assigned mining sites and fleets across the Mantrac Group.
- Analyse and eliminate downtime drivers across technical, operational, logistical, or procedural categories.
- Drive and manage strategic performance projects using data insights.
- Safeguard Mantrac commercial interests and align activities with risk mitigation and recovery strategies.
- Work closely with the Assigned BU PA Champions to Lead and influence Mantrac, Caterpillar and Customer teams, to implement improvement actions

Accountabilities

- Serve as the Physical Availability expert, analysing fleet performance data to identify trends and root causes of poor Physical Availability.
- Monitor and manage Mining Performance Metrics including Physical availability, Mean Time Between Stoppages, Mean Time to Repair and Top Downtime Drivers and site based equipment performance related Kpi’s.
- Lead cross-functional projects to improve fleet performance and reduce downtime.
- Consult with site leadership on product health, maintenance practices, and application best practices.
- Coordinate communication between Mantrac, Caterpillar and customer stakeholders.
- Conduct root-cause analysis for downtime events.
- Prepare performance reports and dashboards.
- Facilitate improvement workshops and stakeholder alignment meetings.
- Recommend corrective actions for equipment, operations, maintenance, and parts logistics.
- Conduct Site based assessments as required to further analyse key drivers for downtime & potential remediation plans required.
- Report out to Mantrac Mining Leadership.
