Job Title: Group Prep Co-ordinator

Department: Production

Reporting to: Production Manager

Job Function: Efficiently and cost effectively manage steel sections and plate stock control through the administration of StruMIS. To nest Steel sections and fittings through CAD software and issue to the CNC machines within the Group Prep department.

Job Description:

  • Promotion of Core Values:
    • Promote Core Values of the business.
    • Be the lead for Safety First in your area by demonstrating examples of good H&S practice.
  • Compliance:
    • Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions.
  • StruMIS Data Management:
    • Responsible for all StruMIS data management and input relating to Production output.
    • Keep StruMIS up to date in line with Project Programmes and shop floor progress.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Liaise with Materials Handlers to manage and track inventory.
  • CNC Programming:
    • CNC Programming for section nesting (StruMIS) and plate nesting (SigmaNEST) for issue to the Prep Department while tracking items through the inventory system.
    • Select the suitable machine for the task.
  • Machinery Understanding:
    • Have a good understanding of existing machinery and how it operates to maximize efficiency.
  • Technical Drawings:
    • Understand, read and interpret technical drawings to identify specific machining requirements.
  • Scheduling:
    • Cost effectively schedule and programme machines to suit workload. Ensure daily production requirements are met.
  • Material Traceability:
    • Ensure job specific material traceability requirements are met through the correct use of relevant systems.
  • Planning:
    • Planning all prep work across Group.
    • Designating prep resource to ensure the correct skill set is used most efficiently.
    • Working to prep by dates set by the Production Planner.
    • Working with both ASL & ASSL Production Managers to ensure all prep targets are met and both companies are serviced equally.

  • Experience of Management Information Systems – StruMIS preferred.
  • Experience of CNC Programming – SigmaNEST preferred.
  • Excellent IT skills and confidence to use and learn new systems.
  • Ideally to have experience of manufacturing production processes.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise and schedule work.
  • Ability to thoroughly understand, read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Analytically thinking with the ability to interpret information and respond quickly in a logical and methodical way.
  • Proactive approach to resolving issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
