About The Role

Digital is the growth engine that will power John Lewis to become leading again. We have an exciting opportunity as Group Product Lead within our John Lewis Digital team. In this role, you are the intersection between business, technology and user experience, leading multiple teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences and drive growth, in line with the JLP Product Framework.

As Group Product Lead for the Availability & Fulfilment team, you will be at the forefront of transformational change as we modernise our digital capabilities to deliver exceptional customer experience and business growth. The successful candidate will be an expert leader, with demonstrable experience of developing the people, process and technologies that drive our most complex digital journeys. You will have a clear vision for the omnichannel experience, with the ability and drive to make this a reality for our customers and Partners.

You will be responsible for managing the product development process from product discovery and truly understanding the tactical and strategic problems that need to be solved across the business and technology, putting the customer at the heart of your decisions. You will define the area on which to focus and develop products that are desirable, feasible and viable. You will drive innovation and transformation to achieve both customer and business outcomes. Your success, and that of your product domain, relies on every team member understanding the vision and being passionate about our customers and the direction of travel.

You will be responsible for shaping the product strategy for your domain, ensuring all teams can translate the strategy into prioritised and actionable units of work for the Development teams and deliver a best-in-class customer and user experience for business success across multiple digital touchpoints. You will be expected to lead by example, with a hands-on approach, coaching and developing an expert high performing team.

Salary range £76,800 - £110,000
Contract type - This position is a Permanent Role
Working pattern/flexible working - Hybrid working. Core days for the Digital team are Mondays and Thursdays, with an additional core day TBC working towards more in person
Location - This role is based at our London Head Office campus in Pimlico, and will require a balance between office working and some onsite time in shops, contact centres and supply chain locations.

Essential Skills/experience You’ll Need

  • Demonstrated ability in Product Leadership, managing value creation and strategy across a mix of 1-5 year Product horizons
  • Comprehensive understanding of shop, supply chain and inventory management technologies and operations, through an internal user, customer and competitor lens
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in multiple locations, with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple priorities while adhering to time-sensitive deadlines
  • Highly commercial and analytical. An excellent communicator and storyteller, able to build trusting relationships with key stakeholders and presenting concepts and ideas in different formats, depending on context
  • Demonstrable evidence of leading large scale transformational change initiatives in areas with high legacy and/or complexity
  • Accomplished people manager, with a history of growing Product Management talent and managing individual, team and 3rd party performance

Desirable Skills/experience You May Have

  • Experience with B2C businesses, with an app-first customer experience
  • Operational experience in shops and supply chain
