WHAT IS ON OFFER

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Group Quality Coordinator to join our team here in Liverpool, UK.

Operating from our Group Headquarters in the UK, the Group Technical and Quality team is a vital component of our Analysis division. This function is dedicated to overseeing performance and fostering ongoing enhancements in the expertise of our Group Laboratories, particularly those handling the commercial exchange and outsourced analysis of metals and minerals. You will be accountable for executing and managing primary Group Quality and Technical projects, while also facilitating the necessary advancements and training to ensure we remain leaders in analytical methodology.

The Quality Coordinator is responsible for the administration, supervision, and monitoring of the laboratories' Integrated Quality Management System (IQMS) in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 and corporate quality policies. This role is the primary point for monitoring, analysing, and reporting on all quality-related data, including proficiency testing, control charts, and non-conformances to ensure the integrity and accuracy of geochemical analytical results. The Quality Coordinator also serves as a key liaison between the laboratory and its clients on all quality-related matters.

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

To be successful at Alfred H Knight you will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Statistical Analysis: Competence in statistical evaluation of QC data, measurement uncertainty, and control charting.
  • Client Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex quality data into clear, client-friendly reports and explanations.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong report writing and presentation abilities.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 standards and accreditation body requirements.
  • Auditing: Strong experience in internal and external auditing, including hosting regulatory inspections.
  • Problem Solving: Proven ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage client expectations and maintain trust through transparent communication.
  • Organisation: Outstanding attention to detail, effective planning skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Independence: A self-motivator able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ethics & Integrity: Uncompromising commitment to quality integrity, with the authority to cease work that may affect the integrity of services.

Required Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory, with specific experience in a geochemistry or mineral/metals lab.
  • Strong understanding of geochemical analytical techniques, including sample preparation (crushing, pulverizing, fusion) and instrumental analysis (ICP-OES, ICP-MS, XRF, Fire Assay).
  • Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and quality tools (e.g., root cause analysis, fishbone diagrams, uncertainty analysis).
  • Advanced Microsoft Office or Google workspace skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BSc) or diploma in Quality, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.

Required Languages

  • Fluent in English. The ability to speak Spanish is desirable.

Travel

  • Routine travel to overseas laboratory sites for training or system rollouts will be required.
