Group Reporting & Consolidation Accountant SME
The Group Reporting & Consolidation Accountant SME provides subject matter expertise across Group Reporting, Financial Consolidation, Statutory Reporting and Period-End Close processes, supporting the design, implementation and optimisation of Northern Powergrid's Finance transformation programme.
The role acts as the primary Finance representative for consolidated reporting requirements, ensuring statutory, regulatory, management and shareholder reporting needs are accurately reflected within systems, processes and controls. Working closely with Finance, IT, external implementation partners and other Finance SMEs, the role will ensure that financial data flows seamlessly from transactional systems through to group consolidation, external reporting and parent company submissions.
The SME will support the implementation of Oracle Fusion and Financial Consolidation and Close (FCC), ensuring legal entity structures, chart of accounts, intercompany processing, consolidation rules, Treasury/FOREX, eliminations and reporting requirements are fully considered within the future-state solution design.
The role is empowered to make day-to-day programme decisions relating to reporting, consolidation, accounting treatments, close processes and testing activities within agreed governance frameworks and will work collaboratively with AP, AR, GL, Treasury, Regulatory Reporting and Data SMEs to deliver an integrated end-to-end Finance solution.

Principal Accountabilities
- Act as the programme Subject Matter Expert for Group Reporting, Consolidation and Financial Close processes.
- Define, document and validate business requirements for statutory reporting, management reporting, external reporting and group consolidation processes.
- Represent Group Finance and Consolidation requirements in design workshops and solution walkthroughs.
- Make functional decisions relating to reporting hierarchies, consolidations, eliminations, movements, ownership structures and close activities.
- Collaborate with SMEs across General Ledger, Treasury, Regulatory Reporting, AP, AR, Projects and Data workstreams to ensure complete end-to-end process integration.
- Review and approve functional designs, configuration proposals, reporting requirements and testing outcomes within the Group Reporting workstream.
- Support implementation and optimisation of Financial Consolidation and Close (FCC) processes and controls.
- Define and validate legal entity, organisation, chart of account and reporting hierarchy structures supporting consolidated reporting requirements.
- Ensure intercompany transactions, eliminations and reconciliation processes are effectively designed and controlled.
- Support data migration, mapping, reconciliation and validation activities impacting reporting and consolidation outputs.
- Lead testing activities including System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and business validation for reporting and consolidation processes.
- Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close process design and optimisation activities.
- Ensure reporting processes comply with IFRS, UK reporting requirements, internal policies and external stakeholder requirements.
- Support training, knowledge transfer and operational readiness activities.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and automate group reporting and consolidation processes.

Experience and Knowledge
- Significant experience in Group Reporting, Financial Consolidation or Group Accounting roles within a large and complex organisation.
- Strong understanding of consolidated financial reporting and group accounting principles.
- Experience preparing consolidated financial statements and reporting submissions to group or parent organisations.
- Experience supporting statutory reporting, month-end close and year-end reporting processes.
- Experience working with complex legal entity structures and multi-entity reporting environments.
- Experience participating in Finance transformation, ERP implementation or reporting system change programmes.
- Proven ability to represent Finance requirements and challenge solution designs where necessary.
