Role Overview
The Group Reporting Accountant/Manager will own the preparation and delivery of the firm's consolidated group financial statements and statutory reporting obligations, working across multiple entities and jurisdictions. This is a technically demanding role within a regulated investment management business, requiring strong IFRS knowledge, comfort with FCA regulatory reporting, and the ability to manage external audit relationships independently.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the consolidated group financial statements under IFRS, including group consolidation, intercompany eliminations, and reconciliations across multiple legal entities and currencies.
- Own the Annual Report and Accounts process end-to-end, ensuring statutory and reporting deadlines are met both in terms of timing and budget.
- Prepare and review monthly/quarterly consolidated balance sheets and management reporting packs for senior stakeholders.
- Lead the preparation of FCA regulatory submissions, including MIFIDPRU/IFPR reporting, ICARA (formerly ICAAP) documentation, and other statutory and regulatory returns as required.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, overseeing audit planning, fieldwork, and the resolution of technical accounting queries.
- Prepare statutory financial statements for individual group entities, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards (IFRS/FRS 102) and local regulatory requirements.
- Provide financial information and support to the tax team for corporation tax, VAT, and other statutory tax computations.
- Partner with FP&A, Treasury, and other finance functions to ensure consistent, accurate, and timely reporting across the Group.
- Drive process improvements and standardization of accounting practices and reporting templates across group entities.
- Support the onboarding of newly acquired or newly established entities into group reporting processes and systems.
- Contribute to system improvement and finance transformation initiatives, including ERP/finance system implementations or migrations where relevant.
- Line manage, coach, and develop junior team members, where applicable.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
