The Role
The Group Revenue Controller is responsible for group-wide governance, control and review of the end-to-end revenue journey, from sale and contract data through to revenue recognition, general ledger and management reporting. The role will ensure that proportionate controls are designed, documented and operating effectively across all revenue streams within the group.
The role leads a team of three, provides effective challenge to process owners, and works closely with FP&I, Business Unit leaders and the General Ledger teams. It combines technical IFRS 15 leadership with strong data, systems and process-improvement capability.
Key Accountabilities
- Own and maintain the group sales-to-revenue control framework across the groups revenue streams including SaaS, license and professional services revenue. Clearly document the data journey, key risks, controls, owners and evidence requirements.
- Assess whether controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively; identify gaps, agree remediation actions and track them to completion with teams responsible for licensing, contracting, billing, systems and accounting.
- Provide review and challenge over the monthly revenue close, helping to improve the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of revenue recognition across the Group.
- Lead delivery of monthly revenue analysis, including actual versus forecast, month-on-month bridges, customer-level movements and product-level performance, working with Business Unit leaders and FP&I to distinguish accounting movements from commercial explanations and ensure significant drivers, risks and opportunities are clearly supported.
- Oversee the integrity and control of accrued revenue, deferred revenue and accounts receivable positions, ensuring reconciliations, ageing analysis and follow-up actions are complete and appropriately reviewed.
- Act as the Group's technical lead for IFRS 15, including review of significant or complex contracts, assessment of new offerings and preparation and maintenance of clear accounting papers.
- Own the finance response for external audit matters relating to revenue, coordinating timely and high-quality evidence from contributing teams and resolving questions and issues through to closure.
- Sponsor automation and continuous improvement across revenue accounting and reporting, including the development of BI dashboards and the effective use of AI tools to strengthen insight, efficiency and control.
- Understand and challenge data flows across Salesforce, NetSuite, Certinia, Cleverbridge and bespoke CRM platforms, partnering with NetSuite IT, data and systems teams to ensure changes protect financial reporting, revenue recognition, dashboard accuracy and control requirements.
- Lead, coach and develop the revenue accounting team, setting clear accountabilities, review standards and escalation paths while building strong working relationships across Finance, Commercial, RevOps, billing, IT and operational teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Strong analytical and systems capability, including experience interrogating customer-level revenue data, reconciling revenue movements to source systems, developing management insight and supporting BI, automation or AI-enabled revenue review solutions.
- Good working knowledge of AI tools and the judgment to apply them effectively and responsibly within finance processes.
- Clear, confident communicator with a strong control mindset and the ability to translate technical accounting and data issues into practical actions.
