In your NFU Group Secretary role, you will be employed by the NFU and will provide assistance and direction on a variety of issues, sell the NFU’s range of membership services and champion British farming by representing local farmers and related rural businesses. In both cases, you’ll develop and build strong relationships with your customers and members and become a leading figurehead in the local community. Working for the NFU means that you will become part of our friendly environment. You will work with great people, recognised for their knowledge and expertise. Additionally, we offer generous annual leave entitlement and other attractive benefits.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You will also act as a local NFU Mutual Agent, on a self-employed basis, where you will work in partnership with another Agent to run the agency business, selling the NFU Mutual’s award-winning range of products. You will be responsible for developing your business, the customer base, and managing your office and the staff that you employ.

We expect by the end of your first year that your commission income would be competitive, which is also uncapped. The potential to grow your business and the income it generates is up to you and can be as great as your ambition. You’ll need a flair for sales (doesn’t need to be insurance specific). You will enjoy building long-lasting relationships and be looking for the opportunity to run your own business with security and uncapped earning potential. Experience of or an affinity with farming and rural matters would give you a distinct advantage and a real head-start in the role of NFU Group Secretary.
