Group Senior Electrical Engineer
Astute’s Power team is exclusively partnered with enfinium to recruit a Group Senior Electrical Engineer to work across their Energy from Waste (EfW) assets. This role will be focusing on the long-term strategy relating to integrity and performance of Electrical assets with a focus on the high voltage generators, switchgear and transformers.
enfinium currently have five fully operational EfW facilities which export c.315 MW of electricity to the grid, with a further site due to be fully operational soon which will take the combined electricity export to c.358 MW.

Responsibilities and duties of the Group Senior Electrical Engineer role
Reporting To The Asset Management Director You Will
- Act as the senior technical authority for electrical engineering, providing technical leadership, governance, assurance and risk management across operational sites.
- Develop, review and maintain electrical engineering standards, specifications, philosophies and guidance in line with legislation and recognised good practice.
- Provide specialist technical support across HV and LV systems, including distribution, protection, switchgear, transformers, generators, motors, drives, earthing and associated control interfaces.
- Lead and support complex electrical fault investigations, root-cause analysis and reliability improvement activities, ensuring lessons learned are implemented across the portfolio.
- Assess electrical asset condition, criticality and obsolescence, developing risk-based inspection, maintenance, renewal and lifecycle plans.
- Lead the electrical scope for outages, plant modifications, capital projects and commissioning activities, including design reviews, testing and technical handover.
- Monitor electrical asset performance, failure trends and condition data to identify and prioritise opportunities to improve reliability, availability and whole-life cost.
- Identify critical electrical spares and investment requirements, developing robust technical and commercial business cases to protect asset availability.
- Manage electrical engineering budgets, forecasts and expenditure, while specifying and overseeing contractors, suppliers and engineering services.
- Ensure compliance with electrical legislation, corporate standards and safe systems of work, while coaching site teams and engineers and promoting a strong electrical safety culture.

Professional Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Substantial electrical engineering experience within power generation, Energy-from-Waste, utilities, process plant or another safety-critical industrial environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of HV/LV electrical systems, including distribution, protection, switchgear, transformers, generators, motors, drives and earthing.
- Demonstrable experience in electrical design review, asset condition assessment, fault investigation, maintenance strategy, lifecycle planning and delivery of engineering improvements or capital projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical health and safety legislation, with experience managing budgets, contractors and suppliers
- Chartered Engineer status or progress towards professional registration is required.
