POSITION SUMMARY: The Group SHEQ Director is responsible for creating and leading a single, globally consistent Integrated Management System (IMS) spanning Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental compliance across Slingco’s UK, US and India operations. Building this unified IMS from the ground up is the primary focus for the role, alongside strengthening product and supplier quality performance and building the cross-functional reporting that links Quality, Health & Safety and compliance into the wider business and customer outcomes. This is a delivery-focused, hands-on role.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and Build the Group’s Unified Integrated Management System (IMS) — as the primary strategic priority of this role, conduct a gap analysis across all sites and design a single, globally consistent IMS architecture for quality, health & safety and environmental management under ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, then lead its phased roll-out across UK, US and India, establishing a single group-wide document control and governance structure throughout.
• Own Product Quality Control & Supplier Quality Performance, partnering with the Supply Chain function to maintain consistent product quality standards across internal manufacturing and the external supplier base, and to strengthen supplier quality performance management — extending quality ownership beyond the factory walls, not just within them.
• Own Manufacturing Product Compliance, ensuring products are manufactured, tested and released in line with applicable product standards and specifications and leading resolution of any non-conforming product. Product certification and accreditation strategy remains with the product and technical teams; this duty owns compliance verification and control within the manufacturing process itself.
• Build Cross-Functional Quality Reporting, developing quality data sets and reporting structures that link into wider functional and customer-facing performance metrics — including Supplier Performance and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) — so quality insight informs broader organisational and customer conversations, not just compliance ones.
• Close Open Compliance Gaps, prioritising resolution of quality and H&S non-conformances by operational and commercial risk, and establishing governance to prevent recurrence.
• Own Group Health & Safety Performance, driving ISO 45001 implementation and a consistent H&S framework, leading investigation and close-out of serious incidents and audit findings group-wide.
• Own Group Environmental Compliance & Reporting, driving ISO 14001 implementation and consistent environmental, waste and emissions reporting across all sites, supporting the Group’s wider ESG and sustainability commitments.
• Maintain and Report the Group SHEQ Risk Register, keeping a live, up-to-date Group risk register covering quality, H&S and environmental risk, with regular review and clear reporting of risk status and mitigation progress to the COO and Board.
• Lead and Develop the Group SHEQ Function, with solid-line management of the UK Quality and H&S team and a dotted-line relationship with Quality and H&S leads in the US and India, raising capability and consistency through coaching, training and recruitment.
• Establish Group SHEQ Governance, chairing a quarterly SHEQ review reporting performance, risk and progress to the COO and Board.
• Build a Group SHEQ Training & Competency Framework, establishing consistent skills, training and competency standards for SHEQ roles and site teams across all regions.
• Establish a Group Internal Audit Programme, designing and leading a group-wide internal audit schedule, tracking non-conformance closure and trending performance across sites.
• Maintain Audit-Ready Documentation, ensuring SHEQ systems and records are consistently maintained to a standard that would withstand external commercial or investment due diligence at any time.
