Eden Scott are pleased to be partnering with Brockwell Energy to appoint a Group SHEQA Manager based from their Edinburgh office. This represents an excellent opportunity for a QHSE professional to further develop their career and work on a number of exciting projects across the UK including but not limited to grid scale BESS, Solar and Wind.
Main Purpose
- Assume responsibility for and implement best practice across the Group in all matters SHEQA related including development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures at all levels.
- Ensure all Group Companies are fully compliant in all relevant SHEQA matters.
- Lead the SHEQA function and develop its standing and calibre within the organisation.
- Develop the standards and approach for positive cultural behaviours required both at a corporate and project level.
- Install and maintain the infrastructure including audits and reviews to ensure the highest quality is maintained and proven to be maintained at all levels.
- Retain all Group certification and accreditation such as ISO and other relevant standards.
Key Tasks and Requirements
- Take responsibility for ensuring the business is compliant in all SHEQA matters and at all levels.
- Lead on the development of all SHEQA policies, procedures and associated management systems and the implementation of same.
- Implement, coordinate and manage business-wide SHEQA management systems and reporting systems.
- Monitor and promote the effective implementation of appropriate safety, environmental and quality procedures and provide for their updating in line with changes in legislation and company directives.
- Actively provide clear advice and assistance to the Group Board and employees in all roles at all levels in discharging their SHEQA responsibilities.
- Support other internal functions and advise on all issues concerned with Health and Safety at work.
- Arrange and ensure that safety and quality audits are conducted both internally and externally on a regular basis.
- Arrange for or take the lead in accident, incident and relevant near-miss investigations as appropriate to the severity.
- Organise and arrange to have carried out analysis of accident / incident statistics, identifying trends, suggesting improvement plans and publishing monthly reports and associated dashboards.
- Provide technical support to Senior Management on any safety, health, environmental and quality related subjects.
- Carry out health and safety audits on Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 duty holder and also on other ISO and quality maters.
- Ensure there is proper liaison between relevant groups in the Company including project stakeholders on safety related issues.
- Ensure SHEQA matters are properly addressed on all new projects or operating entities.
- Organise and, Participate as appropriate in HAZOP meetings prior to procurement and installation activities.
- Arrange for the production review, monitoring and risk assessments and method statements and other safe systems of work as required across the business.
- Arrange where appropriate that proper safety support and advice, including the preparation of required management plans and procedures for initial contract start up activities is delivered.

Key Results and Objectives
- The fundamental objective of the role is to ensure that any staff, stakeholder, subcontractor or other party working or attending any Group site is safe and that all Group assets are protected.
- Key results to be measured in accordance with Group and good industry practice include:
- Incidents
- RIDDOR
- Quality targets
- Environmental standards
- Retention of ISO and other Group accreditation and certification and audits.

Responsibility for Staff and Equipment
- Direct or function responsibility for all staff in the Group having responsibility for health and safety, environmental or quality matters.
- Responsible for ensuring that all plant and equipment owned, leased or utilised on any Group site is certified and suitable for purpose and that any operator using any such plant and equipment is properly trained in its safe use.
Guidance on Skills for Job
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a management role, being the functional point of leadership for SHEQA within an industrial business and having had asset responsibility ideally with experience in Wind, Solar or Battery Storage.
- Recent working knowledge of all relevant SHEQA legislation.
- Management and familiarity with ISO quality, environmental and safety accreditations.
- Graduate level or equivalent and NEBOSH Diploma preferred.
- Ability to manage time to optimise productivity.
- Excellent report writing, presentation and time management skills.
- Excellent organisational, numeracy, literacy and IT skills.
- Basic qualification in education and training (e.g. AET) and CITB CSCS card (white minimum).
- Engineering or construction qualification, plus broad experience in a relevant industry or relevant professional membership e.g. IOSH, Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), Institution of Mechanical Engineers or similar.
