Established in 2024, SHP Legal Services LLC (“SHP”) is an operating platform that helps law firms modernize service delivery through process excellence, technology enablement, and data-driven management. As the operations partner to Broadfield, a rapidly growing global law firm, SHP supports the firm’s unified platform with technology and AI enablement, managed IT and cybersecurity, cloud and data governance, finance and payroll, marketing operations, HR and resource planning, client intake, records management, and talent support. SHP's leadership team has extensive experience in legal operations and a proven track record of developing efficient and scalable offerings. SHP Legal Services is a subsidiary of LSS Strategic Partners, LLC, an Alvarez & Marsal Inc. company.

At the heart of this opportunity is early careers within the legal profession. You will play a key role in attracting, supporting and developing our future talent, taking ownership of the employee journey from initial attraction and recruitment through to development, qualification and progression.

The role is intentionally broader than a traditional early careers position. Alongside leading key aspects of our early talent activity, you will work across the wider talent agenda, with responsibility for areas of learning and development and performance management. You will be expected to understand how these areas connect and contribute to the firm’s wider people and business objectives, working with stakeholders to ensure talent activity reflects business and workforce priorities. This is an opportunity to build broad Talent capability while retaining a clear area of expertise in Early Careers. We are looking for someone who brings strong early careers experience and is comfortable operating across a varied remit. You do not need to be an expert in every aspect of talent or HR from day one. What is important is that you are curious, adaptable and able to build your knowledge and capability across other areas of the talent and people agenda.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about early careers within the legal sector but is also keen to broaden their experience, take ownership of new areas and continue developing as a well-rounded talent professional.

Recruitment & Attraction

  • Lead the annual Early Talent recruitment and attraction cycle, developing programme plans, key milestones and delivery timelines.
  • Manage the Early Talent recruitment budget, making informed decisions on resource allocation, supplier costs and recruitment activity to ensure value for money and effective use of the firm's investment.
  • Partner with practice and business stakeholders to understand future workforce requirements and ensure Early Talent hiring plans reflect anticipated business needs, capability requirements and longer-term talent pipeline priorities.
  • Design and continually improve application and selection processes, including assessment criteria, scoring frameworks and selection methodologies.
  • Manage relationships with ATS and recruitment technology providers to ensure effective recruitment campaigns and candidate journeys.
  • Partner with Marketing to develop and deliver attraction campaigns across social media, the careers website, university platforms and other relevant channels.
  • Manage relationships with universities and relevant external organisations, representing the firm at careers fairs, recruitment events and other attraction activities.
  • Oversee the development and procurement of appropriate recruitment and employer-branding materials.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of assessment centres, including assessment design, stakeholder engagement, assessor training and delivery.
  • Manage candidate offers and pre-boarding activity, ensuring successful candidates receive a positive and engaging experience while providing constructive feedback to unsuccessful candidates where appropriate.
  • Design and oversee vacation scheme programmes, including induction, work allocation, development activities, social events, stakeholder involvement and participant engagement.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Support supervisors and managers in preparing for each seat rotation, including the provision of appropriate guidance and training.
  • Coordinate and facilitate quarterly seat review meetings, including stakeholder engagement, documentation, actions and follow-up.

Performance & Development

  • Manage and continually enhance the firmwide annual Performance Development Review (PDR) process, ensuring it is well planned, consistently implemented and aligned with the firm's people and business objectives.
  • Provide clear guidance, communications and practical support to Line Managers and employees so they understand their roles, responsibilities and expectations throughout the performance cycle.
  • Embed and support mid-year check-ins to encourage regular, meaningful conversations around performance, objectives, development, career aspirations and support needs rather than relying solely on the annual review.
  • Monitor engagement and completion across the PDR cycle, using feedback, data and stakeholder insights to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Manage and support the firm's probation process for new joiners, ensuring probationary periods are clearly structured, consistently applied and effectively managed.
  • Provide Line Managers with guidance, tools and support to set expectations, monitor performance and provide timely and constructive feedback throughout probation.
  • Ensure appropriate probation check-ins and formal review points are completed, with performance, development or support needs identified and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Build knowledge of wider performance and talent practices and contribute to the ongoing development of the firm's broader Talent agenda.

We are looking for someone with a strong foundation in early careers, ideally within the legal or professional services sector, who is ready to take ownership of a broad and varied role.

You will ideally bring:

  • Strong experience of early careers recruitment and development, with a good understanding of the end-to-end early talent lifecycle.
  • Experience within the legal profession or a professional services environment, with an understanding of the expectations and complexities of working with professional populations and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience of managing recruitment and selection processes, including attraction campaigns, application screening, assessment methodologies, assessment centres and candidate offers.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of how talent, workforce and development decisions support wider business objectives, with the ability to balance people needs with organisational and client requirements.
  • Strong programme and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, deadlines and stakeholder requirements simultaneously.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to build credible relationships with Partners, senior leaders, Line Managers, supervisors and external providers.
  • Strong analytical and commercial thinking skills, with the ability to interpret recruitment, performance, retention and programme data, evaluate effectiveness and value, and use insight to make practical recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with audiences at all levels.
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail, combined with the ability to see the bigger picture and understand wider business priorities.
  • Experience of performance management and/or broader learning and development would be advantageous but is not essential. More important is an interest in these areas and the ability and willingness to quickly develop your knowledge and capability.
  • A genuine interest in developing broader knowledge across Talent and HR and building a well-rounded career within the people profession.

  • Is naturally curious and keen to understand the wider business, including how the firm's strategy, clients, practice areas and workforce priorities influence talent and people decisions.
  • Thinks beyond individual processes and programmes, considering their wider impact on the firm, its people and its ability to meet future business needs.
  • Has the confidence to challenge existing ways of working constructively and suggest practical improvements.
  • Is solutions-focused and comfortable working through ambiguity or unfamiliar situations.
  • Is adaptable and willing to step outside their existing area of expertise to learn new aspects of Talent, L&D, performance management and the wider HR agenda.

  • Is confident navigating different perspectives and competing priorities and is able to influence and challenge constructively when appropriate.
  • Has a collaborative, pragmatic and service-focused approach while retaining the confidence to provide an independent perspective.
  • Is highly organised and able to prioritise effectively in a busy environment where deadlines and priorities may change.
