About the Role
You'll lead the Group approach to talent and succession, ensuring Tesco has the leadership pipelines and critical talent needed to deliver its strategy. I translate Group talent priorities into action, strengthen succession for senior and critical roles, and turn talent insights into clear actions on readiness, development, movement and external hiring. Working with People teams across markets and functions to embed a consistent approach to talent, careers and potential, while ensure our governance drives collective ownership, decisions and measurable progress.
You will be responsible for
- Lead Tesco's Group approach to talent and succession, ensuring leadership pipelines and critical talent support current and future business priorities
- Own the Group talent planning and succession approach, creating consistency in how talent is identified, reviewed, developed and moved across Tesco.
- Translate Group talent priorities into practical action, ensure markets, functions and people teams are aligned on the outcomes that matter most.
- Drive stronger succession for critical and senior leadership roles by identifying risks, improving readiness and building diverse talent pipelines.
- Lead Group talent reviews and governance ensuring talent priorities are visible, discussed and translated into clear actions.
- Use talent insight, data and external market intelligence to identify risks, inform decisions and improve talent outcomes.
- Lead the ongoing development and embedding of Tesco's approach to careers, potential and talent management.
- Build strong partnership across Markets, Functions, Executive Resourcing, Capability, Workforce Planning, DE&I and business partnering teams to deliver joined-up talent outcomes.
- Provide expert talent advice, challenge and guidance to the Group talent community, building capability and improving the quality of talent and succession decisions
- Bring external insight to continuously evolve Tesco's approach to talent, succession and careers.
- Lead the partnership with Tesco's external strategic talent partner.

You will need
- Significant experience in talent management and succession planning
- Experience partnering with senior leaders on leadership pipelines and critical talent
- Experience designing and embedding enterprise-wide talent approaches
- Experience leading talent reviews, governance and succession discussions
- Experience using talent insight and data to inform decisions and actions
- Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives and stakeholders
- Experience working with external talent partners

- Annual bonus scheme of up to 20% of base salary.
