Group Tax Accountant

Hatfield, Hertfordshire | Hybrid – 3 days remote per week | £55,000–£65,000

JSS are hiring for a Group Tax Accountant with a leading listed business based near to Hatfield.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong tax professional to develop their career within a FTSE 100 organisation.

The role has a strong focus on UK and international VAT compliance and advisory, alongside tax accounting, process improvement and tax technology. You’ll work closely with finance, accounting, logistics, procurement and external advisers, providing practical VAT guidance and helping the business manage tax risks across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and review UK and international VAT returns and reconciliations.
  • Provide day-to-day VAT advice to finance and operational teams.
  • Review cross-border transactions, imports, exports, contracts and new business models from a VAT perspective.
  • Support VAT audits, enquiries, foreign VAT recovery and tax authority interactions.
  • Assist with tax accounting, provisions, accruals and month-end/year-end processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate tax processes.
  • Support SAP, Meridian and wider tax technology and transformation projects.
  • Maintain strong tax controls, documentation and audit trails.

About you

You’ll have a good understanding of UK VAT legislation, with experience in UK and/or international VAT compliance. You’ll bring strong analytical and reconciliation skills, advanced Excel capability and ideally experience working with SAP or another ERP system.
