About the Role
Ever tried building a tax function that keeps pace with an acquisitive, multi-entity business? Based in our London office and reporting to the Corporate Finance Director within Group Finance, this is an opportunity to take ownership of tax compliance, governance & treasury-related tax matters across one of the UK's largest property services groups. You'll work independently day to day, partnering with senior stakeholders across the business while using external specialist support only where genuinely required.
This role sits at the centre of key business decisions. From acquisitions and integrations through to tax risk management, VAT advisory work and process improvement, you'll help ensure the Group remains compliant, commercially informed and positioned to make better decisions through strong tax governance and practical advice.
What you'll be doing
- Taking ownership of the Group's corporation tax & VAT compliance obligations, ensuring accurate filings, reporting & statutory compliance.
- Managing tax computations, group relief claims, tax disclosures and tax accounting under UK GAAP.
- Strengthening tax controls, governance frameworks & documentation to reduce risk and improve consistency across multiple entities.
- Providing commercially focused tax advice that supports business decisions and identifies opportunities to improve tax efficiency.
- Leading on VAT advisory matters, exemptions, compliance requirements & VAT grouping arrangements.
- Overseeing property tax matters including SDLT checks, CIS application, capital allowances support & Option to Tax records.
- Supporting acquisitions by leading the internal tax workstream, reviewing risks, coordinating due diligence activity & integrating new entities into the compliance framework.
- Managing relationships with HMRC, external advisers & auditors while maintaining a strong compliance profile.
- Owning key governance processes including the tax risk register, SAO requirements & Corporate Criminal Offence compliance.
- Driving tax process improvements, enhancing reporting capabilities and building tax awareness across finance & operational teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
