The Role
You'll own the preparation and delivery of the group's tax reporting under IFRS, including current and deferred tax calculations and the tax disclosures for the annual report, coordinating the year-end process across all group entities. You'll make sure tax balances are accurate in the group consolidation and statutory accounts, manage transfer pricing documentation and policy, and act as the primary liaison with external auditors on tax reporting.
On compliance, you'll manage UK corporation tax and oversee US federal and state filings with local advisors, along with other international jurisdictions and indirect taxes such as VAT and sales tax. You'll keep pace with changing legislation and assess the impact on the group, and manage R&D tax claims. You'll also improve tax controls and documentation and, in a small team, take on day-to-day administrative work alongside the technical delivery, supporting finance systems and process projects.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
