Are you an experienced tax professional looking for an opportunity to take ownership of tax compliance and reporting within a growing organisation?
We're looking for a Group Tax Manager to join Exemplar Health Care and become our first dedicated in-house tax specialist. Reporting to the Deputy CFO, you'll take responsibility for the Group's tax compliance, reporting and governance activities, ensuring we meet our tax obligations accurately and efficiently. You'll work closely with colleagues across Finance, HR and Payroll, Property, Legal and Operations, providing practical tax advice and helping strengthen internal ownership of tax matters.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong tax professional who enjoys combining hands-on compliance work with business partnering and advisory support in a complex, multi-entity organisation.
Please note: This is a hybrid role, with regular attendance required at our Support Centre in Sheffield. Occasional travel to other Group locations may also be required. We'd love to hear from candidates currently working within practice or industry who are looking to take the next step in their tax career and make a meaningful impact within a growing organisation.
About the role
Your day to day will be varied, with overall responsibility for supporting Exemplar Health Care's tax compliance, reporting and governance activities across the Group.
This may include but not be limited to:
- preparing and submitting corporation tax computations and returns across the Group.
- managing corporation tax payments, forecasting and cash tax reporting.
- preparing current and deferred tax calculations, provisions and statutory accounts disclosures.
- overseeing employment tax compliance and providing advice on PAYE, benefits, expenses and off-payroll working matters.
- maintaining the Group tax compliance calendar and ensuring all returns, claims, elections and payments are completed accurately and on time.
- managing relationships with HMRC and supporting responses to tax enquiries.
- providing practical tax advice to colleagues across Finance, HR and Payroll, Property, Legal and other business functions.
- supporting transactions, property activity, capital expenditure projects and corporate restructuring from a tax perspective.
- overseeing VAT and other indirect tax matters across the Group.
- identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen tax governance and maximise available tax reliefs.
- managing relationships with external tax advisers and coordinating specialist support where appropriate.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
