The Opportunity
Our client is a scaling UK challenger bank that is continuing to expand its product offering, customer base, and market presence. As part of its ongoing growth journey, the business is seeking to appoint its first dedicated tax professional to establish and lead the tax function.
This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic financial services business in a newly created role with broad exposure across the organisation. The successful candidate will take ownership of all tax matters affecting the bank and will play a key role in developing the tax strategy, governance framework, and operating model as the business evolves.

Candidate Profile
We are interested in speaking with experienced tax professionals who combine strong technical expertise with a pragmatic, commercial approach.
Key Requirements
- ACA, ACCA, CA, CTA, or equivalent professional qualification.
- Significant UK tax experience, preferably gained from working in-house.
- Ability to operate effectively in a standalone role with broad responsibility.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to balance risk management and business objectives.
- Prior experience managing relationships with HMRC and external advisers.

Desirable Experience
- Experience within banking, fintech, consumer lending, or payments.
- Experience establishing processes, controls, or a tax function from the ground up.
