Group Tax Manager
East Sussex/ Hybrid working
£80,000 – 90,000 + benefits
Grafton Banks Finance is working with a highly acquisitive and growing PE backed business, based in East Sussex, to recruit a newly created Group Tax Manager role.
Working closely with the Head of Tax this role will be instrumental in raising the profile of tax, being an effective business partner to add commercial value and ensuring on-going tax compliance for the business.
This is a broad and hands-on role that will require someone to have strong skills in across multiple taxes (CT, VAT, PAYE etc.). To be successful you’ll need to be a qualified accountant or tax professional with strong technical tax accounting skills from a dedicated tax accounting position, ideally gained in a group structure or international business. This role could also suit someone working at manager level in practice and looking to make their first move into industry.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
