Employment: Full-time, Permanent

The Opportunity

Whytematter is delighted to be partnering with a major international retail and online business to appoint an experienced Group Treasury Manager to its Finance team at its Dundalk headquarters.

Our client is a highly successful, independently owned organisation with a significant presence across Ireland and the UK, alongside an established international operation. The business has grown considerably since its establishment in the early 1980s and today operates more than 390 retail locations, employs over 2,700 people across Ireland, the UK and Gibraltar, and has a substantial and growing online business.

Operating within a fast-paced, highly transactional consumer environment, the organisation processes significant volumes of payments across its retail and digital operations, making Treasury a critical function within the wider Group.

This is a senior and highly visible position, offering the successful candidate responsibility for the Group's banking operations, liquidity, cash management, treasury controls and banking relationships across multiple entities, jurisdictions, currencies and payment platforms.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the Group Treasury Manager will take ownership of the effective management of the Group's banking and treasury operations across both its Retail and Online divisions.

You'll lead the Treasury team while ensuring strong governance, control and visibility across cash movements, balances and liquidity.

The position will suit an experienced treasury professional who is comfortable operating in a high-volume, fast-moving environment and who can combine strong technical treasury knowledge with leadership, commercial awareness and a continuous-improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Treasury Operations & Banking Management

  • Oversee all Group bank accounts across multiple entities, jurisdictions, platforms and currencies, principally EUR and GBP.
  • Ensure appropriate banking structures, documentation and controls are maintained.
  • Lead and manage the Treasury team, ensuring timely and accurate monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Oversee complex, high-volume reconciliations across multiple online platforms and payment flows, investigating and resolving discrepancies with internal teams and external providers.
  • Manage funding and liquidity across multi-currency accounts to ensure appropriate funds are available to meet operational requirements.
  • Manage short-term investment portfolios and the Group's foreign exchange (FX) exposure.
  • Identify opportunities to automate processes, strengthen controls and improve operational efficiency.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • A straightforward yet professional communication style.
  • High levels of discretion and integrity.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

You'll work closely with senior Finance stakeholders, banking and payment partners and teams across the wider business, while also having the opportunity to lead and develop the Treasury function, improve processes and drive greater automation and efficiency.

If you're currently working as a Treasury Manager, Treasury Operations Manager, Treasury Lead, Senior Treasury Analyst, Cash & Treasury Manager, Treasury Accountant or Finance Operations Manager and would be interested in taking the next step, we'd love to speak with you.
