A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A GROUPS AND EVENTS MANAGER
What You'll Be Doing...
- Proactively manage and convert conference, meeting, private dining and event enquiries across both hotels.
- Build strong relationships with corporate clients, agencies and event organisers to maximise new and repeat business.
- Conduct hotel show rounds and prepare tailored proposals, quotations and contracts.
- Coordinate every aspect of events from enquiry through to successful delivery, ensuring exceptional guest experiences.
- Prepare detailed function sheets and event briefs, communicating all requirements clearly to operational departments.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients before, during and after their events.
- Work closely with the Front Office, Food & Beverage, Kitchen, Housekeeping and Maintenance teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Maximise revenue through upselling accommodation, catering, meeting packages and additional services.
- Monitor event profitability, deposits and final invoicing, ensuring accuracy throughout.
- Review guest feedback and identify opportunities to continuously improve the conference and events offering.
- Coordinate and oversee weddings, ensuring every celebration is delivered to the highest luxury standards and each couple receives an exceptional, personalised experience.
- Represent both hotels at networking events, exhibitions and client meetings to grow the business pipeline.
- Ensure all events comply with health and safety, licensing and Marriott brand standards.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
- Previous experience in conference and events, sales or hotel event management.
- A passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences from enquiry through to event completion.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to maximise revenue opportunities.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
- Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence presenting proposals, negotiating with clients and conducting hotel show rounds.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate event documentation.
- A collaborative approach, working effectively across multiple hotel departments.
- A flexible attitude, with the ability to work evenings and weekends when required.
- Experience within a luxury hotel environment is highly desirable.
- Experience planning and delivering weddings within a luxury hotel environment would be advantageous, with an understanding of the high levels of service, attention to detail and personalised guest experience expected for luxury wedding celebrations.
- Experience using hotel property management and event management systems would be advantageous.
