About The Role

The Group Sales Executive is responsible for driving accommodation revenue through the effective management of residential group enquiries across the leisure, corporate, golf and wholesale markets.

The role focuses on converting enquiries into confirmed business whilst ensuring hotel inventory is managed to maximise overall revenue opportunities. Working closely with the Hotel Sales Manager, Front Office, Revenue Management and Operations teams, the Group Sales Executive will optimise group allocations, manage room inventory and ensure the hotel achieves the best possible mix of transient and group business.

The successful candidate will build strong relationships with clients, agents and wholesalers whilst providing an exceptional customer experience from initial enquiry through to arrival.

Key Responsibilities For The Role Will Include

Sales & Business Development

  • Respond promptly and professionally to all group accommodation enquiries.
  • Convert group enquiries into confirmed business through proactive sales techniques.
  • Develop business within the corporate, leisure, golf and wholesale market sectors.
  • Build long-term relationships with travel agents, tour operators, wholesalers and key corporate accounts.
  • Identify opportunities to increase repeat business and account production.
  • Conduct client site visits, familiarisation trips and sales appointments where required.
  • Support the Hotel Sales Manager with sales activity, account management and business development initiatives.

Group Revenue & Inventory Management

  • Manage group room allocations to maximise hotel revenue whilst protecting transient business opportunities.
  • Monitor group wash, pickup, cut-off dates and release unused inventory back into general availability where appropriate.
  • Review group blocks daily to ensure optimum utilisation of hotel inventory.
  • Work closely with Front Office and Reservations to ensure room inventory is accurately managed at all times.
  • Liaise with Reception regarding arrivals, departures, occupancy levels, overbooking situations and room availability.

Revenue & Commercial Awareness

  • Understand hotel demand patterns and booking pace.
  • Support the Hotel Sales Manager in delivering budgeted room revenue.
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends.
  • Participate in weekly revenue and sales strategy meetings.
  • Highlight periods of high or low demand and recommend actions to maximise revenue.
  • Assist with forecasting group business and expected room pickup.
  • Ensure all group business contributes positively to hotel profitability.

Customer & Operational Excellence

  • Provide a seamless customer journey from enquiry through to arrival.
  • Prepare proposals, contracts and confirmations accurately and within agreed response times.
  • Coordinate with Operations to ensure all client requirements are communicated effectively.
  • Maintain excellent communication with Reception, Events, Housekeeping and Food & Beverage teams.
  • Ensure all rooming lists, billing instructions and client requests are completed before arrival.
  • Resolve customer issues professionally and efficiently.

Administration

  • Maintain accurate records within OPERA, MARSHA and CRM systems.
  • Produce weekly sales reports, pipeline reports and booking forecasts.
  • Keep account activity up to date.
  • Ensure all contracts comply with Marriott and hotel policies.
  • Support reporting on conversion, pace, production and market segment performance.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a sales, customer service, hospitality, events, or golf environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong customer relationships.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills, with a proactive approach to identifying business opportunities.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple enquiries simultaneously.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and experience using booking or CRM systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Opera PMS, Opera Cloud and Marsha experience
  • Experience within the golf, leisure or hospitality market.
  • Knowledge of wholesale, corporate and tour operator contracting.
  • Understanding of hotel demand management and revenue optimisation.
