Growth & Business Development Specialist – Spencer West LLP

Location: London (Hybrid, minimum 2 days in the office per week)

Reporting to: The Global Director of Marketing & Business Development

The Role

We are looking for an experienced, commercially minded Growth & Business Development Specialist to join Spencer West at an exciting stage of international growth.

This is a hands-on, relationship-led role for someone who wants to help build opportunities, connect people and turn conversations into measurable business growth across a modern international law firm.

Working closely with the Global Director of Marketing & Business Development, you will lead initiatives to support revenue generation, referrals, sector and practice growth, recruitment initiatives, events and relationship intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development, Referrals & Growth

  • Develop and maintain a structured referral and relationship development programme.
  • Collaborate with lawyers, jurisdiction leads, practice and sector groups to identify opportunities, connect expertise and support client introductions.
  • Track activity, follow up opportunities and convert business development conversations into measurable outcomes.

Sector & Practice Group Development

  • Create growth plans for priority sectors, practice areas and jurisdictions.
  • Help identify client trends and commercial themes that can be developed into campaigns, events and market-facing activity.

Events & Relationship Building

  • Design and roll out a strategic programme of internal and external events aligned to the firm’s growth priorities.
  • Work with partners to ensure events generate meaningful follow-up, relationships and commercial opportunities.

Recruitment & Growth Support

  • Work with Talent Acquisition to support strategic recruitment campaigns and help communicate the Spencer West proposition to prospective lawyers.
  • Contribute to onboarding activity that encourages early collaboration, referrals and engagement across the firm.

Relationship Intelligence & CRM

  • Lead the development of CRM, relationship tracking and reporting processes that improve visibility of opportunities and outcomes.
  • Help create simple systems and dashboards that bring greater consistency, insight and accountability to business development activity.

Strategic Projects

  • Develop strategic projects including sector groups, international growth programmes, Private Office, SWGA, campaigns, pitches and client-facing materials where required.

About You

  • 5+ years of experience in business development, relationship management or commercial growth, ideally within legal, professional services or consulting.
  • A strong understanding of relationship-led business development and confidence working with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisation, project management and communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness, curiosity and the ability to spot and develop growth opportunities.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office tools; experience with CRM, or business intelligence platforms would be advantageous.
  • Tech-aware, with an interest in AI tools and modern working practices.
  • Self-motivation, energy and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.

This is an opportunity to join a forward-thinking, entrepreneurial law firm where business development is central to growth, collaboration and the firm’s international strategy.

We offer a competitive salary, benchmarked against London market rates, with the final package reflecting the successful candidate’s experience, plus a discretionary bonus of up to 10% of salary

Permanent, full-time, hybrid, flexible work pattern with a minimum of 2 days per week from our London office (Moorgate)

  • Some travel within the UK and internationally may be required
  • Attendance at internal and external networking, BD and firm events will form part of the role.

Standard office hours are 9.00am – 5.30pm with a flexible approach to working hours. The role will include attendance at internal meetings, external events, networking opportunities and occasional travel where required.
