Job Description

The Growth Director - Client & Contractor Partnerships

The Growth Director - Client & Contractor Partnerships, will be responsible for driving growth across all sectors and practices within Transportation across UK&I. This will be in collaboration with Transport Market Sector Directors, the Transportation Strategy & Growth Director, and adjacent Market Sector Directors across Energy, Water and Buildings & Places.

Driving growth will include identifying new market opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, including contractors, overseeing market entry initiatives, and guiding the business toward sustainable and profitable expansion. The role demands strong industry expertise, commercial acumen, sales experience, and leadership to shape the long-term direction of the organisation within the evolving transportation landscape.

In this pivotal role, the post holder will collaboratively, define and execute the sales strategy, build strong client relationships, position the business to win what matters and extend our profile and brand whilst ensuring alignment with the organisation’s overall business objectives.

Business Development & Positioning

  • Build strong, long term, relationships with clients across the Transportation market, particularly focused on those with holistic transport requirements for example Department for Transport, Combined Authorities and devolved nations.
  • Develop client understanding to support the forming and promotion of strategic partnerships with other organisations including contractors.
  • Work with clients to support their development of long-term transport solutions that support their overall outcome objectives.
  • Position AECOM to be able to shape client thinking.
  • Position the organisation as a thought leader in our markets.

Market Intelligence & Investment Development

  • Conduct competitive and market analysis to refine propositions and identify new revenue streams.
  • Develop investment proposals that provide AECOM with long term growth opportunity.
  • Provide advice to the business on where future revenue streams will develop and areas where there is reduced opportunity for growth.

  • Support pipeline analysis to help ensure the Transportation end market has an appropriate pipeline of opportunities to deliver its Business Plan targets with respect to Net Service Revenue and Gross Margin.
  • Work closely with Strategy & Growth, Market Sectors, Practices, and Marcomms teams to ensure client solutions are feasible and aligned with internal capabilities.
  • Support the development of effective relationships with internal stakeholders which promotes a culture of success for the wider AECOM business.
  • Work in full collaboration with Market Sector Directors and Strategy & Growth to lead the directions of the markets and opportunities in the pipeline.
  • Work in full collaboration with the regional Contractor Partnerships lead to ensure the right strategic partnerships for success.
  • Engage with Country Managers across Europe and how closer collaboration can drive growth in their markets.
  • Engage with the Transportation Global Business Line to ensure the best of AECOM’s global offer and experience is brought to our clients.

Client Account Management (CAM)

  • Support and drive development of a world class CAM program within AECOM’s EUR&I Region.
  • Working with Client Account Managers and local teams to build consistent and deep relationships with those clients and supply chains, particularly where solutions are not yet defined.
  • Providing leadership of CAMs within the Transport business and supporting the development of our CAM professionals as well as leadership of rigorous account goal setting and reviews.

Performance Management & Reporting

  • Analyse pipeline data and provide regular reports to senior management on outlook and market conditions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the sales process, tools, and client engagement approach.

Industry Events

  • Represent AECOM at agreed industry events and with agreed industry bodies.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in business development and work winning.
  • Minimum 15+ years in business development or growth strategy, leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of revenue generation, position development and leading strategic partnerships with other organisations.
  • Deep knowledge of the Transportation market in UK&I specifically in Rail.
  • Strong network within the Transportation Sector in UK&I with both Rail Clients and Tier 1 and 2 Contractors.
  • Experience with public sector procurement including framework agreements.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.
  • Demonstrable record in the preparation, coordination, and delivery of successful client engagement or growth initiatives.
  • Proven track record of successfully driving and executing strategic plans across complex multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate at all organisational levels.
  • Strategic and analytical mindset with a focus on driving results.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Knowledge of Industry dynamics and trends in Europe & India related to Transportation.

  • Degree preferred but not essential.
  • Member of recognised professional body relative to our core markets.
  • International market development or delivery experience preferred.
