A Little Bit More About Your Role

A hybrid role, the candidate will be given dedicated headspace to grow our Roads business in a new sector as well as doing client facing, billable work.

We are looking for someone with experience in the following sectors:

  • Defence & security
  • Aviation
  • Rail
  • Design & build
  • Healthcare
  • Education
  • Science & technology
  • Datacentres
  • Ports
  • Logistics
  • Water

The candidate will be based locally within our London (Westferry Circus), Basingstoke, or Cambridge offices.

In This Role Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Being a champion of our health, safety, and well-being culture by leading by example.
  • Spending time with clients and industry partners to build strong, trusting relationships and enhance WSP’s external market presence and profile with key clients and partners.
  • Leading on business development activities to bring in new, sustainable opportunities for WSP.
  • Developing a pipeline of opportunities within the dedicated sector.
  • Coordinating with other business and sector/client leaders to ensure alignment, share best practice and resources, and represent the Regional Business when pursuing multidisciplinary work.
  • Delivering funding (sales) and revenue targets within the Region for the dedicated sector.
  • Leading key accounts and client relationships as required for the sector.
  • Participating in tender bids and business development opportunities as they arise.
  • Agreeing fees and managing the commercial position on projects.
  • Supporting and working with the Regional Director, Growth Director, and wider Regional Leadership Team to deliver their goals for the region.
  • Contributing to Regional Business Unit initiatives, best practice, and value propositions.
  • Providing visible growth leadership to the wider team, helping to upskill and develop capabilities in growth, bidding, client, and account management.
  • Coordinating with relevant leaders to ensure the effective deployment of competent and experienced resources to bids and the mobilisation of projects.
  • Leading on projects to ensure technical quality and timely delivery.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…

  • Experience in a growth-focused role.
  • Experience of working for a consultancy business across a specific sector.
  • Experience of operating at management level in delivering services into the public and private sector.
  • Ability to champion client-centric delivery excellence by embedding a strong understanding of client needs and consistently ensuring right-first time, high-quality outcomes.

Skills And Personal Qualities

  • Strong communication skills, with excellent stakeholder management.
  • Lead, inspire, and motivate a team to support the achievement of business goals.
  • Organisational skills to coordinate the delivery activities of a professional team.
  • Clear understanding of the importance of robust business processes and systems and a strong commitment to quality.
  • Strong influencing skills particularly amongst peers and other managers and leaders.
  • Ability to work openly and collaboratively to maximise overall organisational benefit.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Technical expertise to manage and lead multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Good client handling and interpersonal skills are essential.
