Growth & Marketing Manager

Pet Database is scaling its growth function across paid, organic, and emerging channels for both Pet Database and Tailster. We're looking for a Growth & Marketing Manager to own day-to-day performance across paid social and paid search, while helping stand up and test new channels — OpenAI Ads, direct mail, affiliates, and organic.

This role sits alongside a CRM Specialist, a Brand & Comms Lead, and a Content Creator, reporting into the Head of Growth. The team currently has strong coverage in CRM, brand, and content — the gaps this role is designed to close are performance marketing execution, ecommerce/product marketing, and audience research & insights. You'll be the person turning strategy into running campaigns, and running campaigns into evidence-based decisions.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused role — but we're a scrappy team, and we want someone who brings their own ideas to the table, not just runs the ones they're given. If you spot an opportunity, a broken process, or a channel worth testing, we want you pushing it forward and owning it end to end, not waiting for a brief.

You'll work with a mix of in-house tools (Holistics, Segment, Google Sheets/Apps Script) and external agencies (SEO, web development), so comfort moving between hands-on execution and agency management is essential.

What you'll do

Performance marketing (Meta, Google, Microsoft)

  • Own and optimise always-on paid social (primarily Meta) and paid search campaigns across both brands
  • Manage budgets, bidding, targeting, and creative rotation against CAC targets

New paid channel testing

  • Design and run structured tests for alternative paid channels (plus supporting on ad hoc tests across affiliates, direct mail, and organic/SEO-adjacent initiatives)
  • Proactively identify and pitch new channels or test ideas worth pursuing — you don't need to wait for a green light to start scoping something promising
  • Define test hypotheses, success criteria, and kill/scale decisions rather than running open-ended pilots

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Ecommerce & product marketing

  • Own the marketing side of the customer journey from ad click through to conversion — landing pages, offer structure, and funnel performance
  • Work with the Content Creator and Brand & Comms Lead to brief creative that's grounded in what's actually converting
  • Support site/product initiatives with a marketing and conversion lens

Audience research & insights

  • Build a clearer picture of who converts, why, and where they drop off — across both Pet Database's and Tailster's customer bases
  • Translate model outputs (attribution, CLV, incrementality) into specific targeting, creative, and budget recommendations
  • Bring structured customer/audience research into planning, not just performance data

Cross-functional & reporting cadence

  • Assist with initiatives across the business as required, including outreach work to rescues and animal shelters
  • Work with the data analyst on dashboard and growth model requirements (Holistics)
  • Liaise with external agencies on web development and SEO where campaigns intersect with site work
  • Report performance and test outcomes clearly to the Head of Growth and wider leadership

What we're looking for

  • AI-native: you use AI tools daily to solve real problems — automating reporting, processing data, building small tools — not just prompting for ad copy
  • High initiative: you spot a manual process and ask "why isn't this automated?" — then fix it, rather than flagging it and waiting
  • Strong critical thinking: you interrogate data, question assumptions, and push back when a conclusion doesn't hold up
  • Intellectually curious: comfortable getting fast up to speed in unfamiliar territory — direct mail mechanics, incrementality/causal thinking, new ad formats
  • Data-fluent: confident interpreting complex data and model outputs, and turning them into a specific recommendation, not just a chart
  • Commercially minded: fluent in CAC, CLTV, ROI, and incrementality, and able to translate those into budget and channel decisions
  • Clear communicator: able to move between data analysts, agencies, and senior leadership without losing precision or clarity
  • Organised: able to run multiple channels and monthly cadences in parallel without things slipping
  • UK Based: based near London is a bonus but remote is fine too

  • Direct experience managing Meta Ads and Google Ads (Microsoft Ads a plus)
  • Some exposure to ecommerce or product marketing — funnel, landing page, and conversion optimisation
  • Comfortable with marketing attribution and conversion tracking concepts, even if you haven't owned the full reconciliation process yourself
  • Startup or scale-up experience, or a track record of taking on more than your job title strictly required
  • Bonus: experience testing emerging/non-standard channels (affiliates, direct mail, new ad platforms)

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Holistics, Segment, or similar BI/CDP tools
