Why we need you
JH is an ecommerce agency that helps ambitious retailers get to number one or stay there. At JH you work with some of the best in the world at what they do – and it's your job to help them realise that in themselves, as well as telling the world all about it.
Vicki and Jamie have the direction set and the plan exists. What we need now is someone who loves marketing enough to try things, ship them and tell us what happened.
This is an output role first. Most of your week is making things – posts, newsletters, clips, pages, campaign assets – on a steady rhythm that does not slip. We also want to see your thinking in the work: the angle you chose, the idea you added to a brief, the thing you noticed was not working. Marketing here is a team effort. Vicki and Jamie sit at the centre, and people across JH – delivery, design, strategy, sales – bring ideas, expertise and stories to what we publish. You will spend your days drawing the good stuff out of people and turning it into work we are proud of.
Every week has something new to test: a LinkedIn format, a subject line, a landing page, a 40-second cut of a speaker clip. You take a rough brief, fill in the gaps and run with it. If something is not working, you say so early and bring a better idea with you. Do that well and the role gets more independent, with more room to try the things you think we should be doing. This role is great for someone who
- Is properly into marketing. You read the newsletters, notice the ad that stopped you scrolling and want to know why it worked.
- Treats everything as an experiment. You have a hunch, you test it, you tell us what you learned and you go again.
- Sees what other brands and agencies are doing, says "that's nice, but here's how I'd do it for JH", and then does it. You borrow the idea and make it ours.
- Can take a raw clip and have a tight, captioned video ready before lunch.
- Is a little obsessive about copy. The headline, the first line and the word that is not earning its place all bother you until they are fixed.
- Has a personality people are glad to have on a call. Funny, warm, quick and good company, online or at an event.
- Uses AI every day because it makes you faster, and still has the taste to know what is worth publishing.
- Wants the reasoning behind the work, not just a task list.
- Loves a week where every day looks different.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What you'll do
- Write. Friday Five to JH's editorial direction, plus drafts for the blog and newsletter, and support on playbooks and ebooks. Every piece gets a second and third life: a newsletter run, a LinkedIn series, a gated page where it earns one.
- Cut video. Turn talks, interviews, event footage and customer conversations into short, captioned clips and get them out while they are still fresh. Video is as much a part of this job as the writing.
- Run social media. Create the content for the calendar and run to the posting cadence, starting with LinkedIn and with room for Instagram and whatever else suits us. That covers the JH page and, where it makes sense, Jamie's profile. Join the conversation, try new formats and share what you learn.
- Improve the website. Make the on-page changes that come out of our SEO and CRO priorities: page updates, metadata, internal linking, campaign landing pages and basic tracking.
- Show up in search and AI tools. Put in place the structured data and content behind our GEO and SEO strategy, and keep an eye on how JH appears in Google and AI answers.
- Ship campaigns. Take outbound sequences, content-led projects and partner activity from brief to launch to repurposed assets.
- Help with events. Support Meet Magento UK (MMUK), MxLDN, partner days and retailer events: logistics, finding speakers and sessions, promotion, and the follow-up and content afterwards.
That is the shape of the role today. Once we meet the person who gets it, we will tailor it around what they are best at and what lights them up.
Experience of events is a plus. If you have helped run one, you will be at home straight away. If you have not, you will learn fast, and events are where a lot of our best content comes from.
What success looks like by month six
- Friday Five goes out every week with no missed sends.
- Social content goes out to cadence every week, with formats tested and what you learned shared with the team.
- Short video is a regular part of what JH publishes, and you have found the formats that work for us.
- The SEO and CRO backlog is visible, and pages are moving through it.
- You have taken at least one campaign from brief to launch to repurposed assets without hand-holding.
- You have brought in at least one idea from outside JH, reshaped it for how we do things and shipped it.
- You have supported at least one event, with a follow-up plan that got used.
- There is a simple rhythm for sharing how JH shows up in Google and AI tools.

The skills and mindset we value
- Writing that sounds like a person. Clear, quick and with a view in it.
- Video editing in whatever tool you like, with a feel for pace, captions and where to cut.
- Curiosity about what moves a number, and the habit of checking whether it did.
- A good eye for what others in the market are doing, and the judgement to adapt it to JH instead of copying it.
- Comfort in a CMS and with the basics of SEO, analytics and landing pages. We will teach you the technical end.
- Organised enough to run several channels at once, and confident enough to flag it early if something is slipping.
- A real head start with AI tools.
- Warmth and humour with colleagues, partners and the people you meet at events.
Experience in marketing, content or comms helps. Show us your work: we would rather see a video you cut or a post you wrote than a long CV.
What's in it for you
- Direct exposure to how JH builds and runs marketing at agency level, working alongside Vicki and Jamie.
- Real ownership across content, video, social, search and events rather than a single lane.
- Room to try things, and a team that wants to hear what you found out.
- Fully remote, with flexible working built around your life.
- Flexitime, weekly team sessions and regular socials.
- Investment in your training and certifications.
- Room to grow into more independence as you prove you can run with it.
How to apply
Send your CV and a short note with two things:
- One thing you have shipped recently, and what changed after it went out.
- A short video you have cut or edited. Any subject, any length, any tool.
We read every note.
