About The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to join Balfour Beatty (Urban Fox) as Growth Marketing Lead. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership for Urban Fox’s growth marketing and communications activity, shaping and delivering the approach that increases charging network utilisation, builds brand awareness and supports commercial growth across contracted areas.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for a commercially minded self-starter who can set direction, lead others and turn insight into action. The role requires strong digital and sales activation capability, excellent judgement and the confidence to influence senior stakeholders, local authority customers, communities and external partners.
What you'll be doing
- Set the strategic direction for Urban Fox’s growth marketing and communications activity, owning the plan, priorities and performance measures that support business growth and network utilisation.
- Lead the development and delivery of targeted B2C growth activity in contracted areas, converting residents into new or regular users through insight-led local campaigns, sales-focused activation and community engagement across digital, physical and community channels.
- Lead the identification and prioritisation of high-value target audiences and local influence points, including car dealerships, garages, taxi and private-hire operators, delivery fleets, employers, community groups and other partners who can help stimulate consumer demand and drive network utilisation.
- Shape and lead creative sales activation and promotional strategies, including targeted offers, launch campaigns, referral activity, local partnerships and pricing propositions that encourage trial, repeat usage and customer advocacy.
- Provide leadership for Urban Fox’s B2B marketing approach, supporting local authority concession bids, strengthening customer confidence and positioning Urban Fox as a credible partner in on-street EV charging.
- Direct the planning and delivery of integrated campaigns across owned, earned, paid, partnership, media, PR, events, local engagement and emerging channels, using digital tools, insight, geofencing and audience targeting to improve reach, conversion and commercial return.
- Own and govern Urban Fox’s content strategy, setting standards for clear, compelling and audience-specific content for residents, local authorities, partners and other external stakeholders.
- Lead the marketing contribution to local authority tenders and proposals, working with the Bid team to develop compelling narrative, graphics, presentations, digital assets and supporting materials.
- Strengthen and protect Urban Fox’s brand, reputation and leadership profile through consistent messaging, thought leadership, storytelling, social media, PR and campaign content.
- Lead the use of data, insight and performance reporting to make decisions, optimise marketing activity, scale what works and stop activity that does not deliver results.
- Provide support, direction and development to the Community Relations team, setting clear priorities, building capability and ensuring activity is coordinated as part of integrated campaigns and communications across Urban Fox’s contracted areas.
- Act as a senior marketing and communications partner to Urban Fox leaders, Regional Directors, the Bid team, Balfour Beatty Group Communications, local authority customers and external suppliers, influencing decisions and ensuring activity is joined up, high quality and commercially effective.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
