Growth Marketing Lead
£85,000 | London | Hybrid – 3 days
Build the growth engine for a startup - with the backing, budget and resources of a major business behind you.
We're partnering with a major UK business that has spent the last few years building an entirely new digital platform from the ground up.
The product takes something that has historically been complex, offline and difficult for smaller businesses to access and turns it into a simple, self-serve experience. Customers can discover the platform, create what they need and transact online without needing to speak to Sales.
The product is built. It's live. Early customers are coming through.
Now they need to scale it.
Joining a marketing team of 4, they're hiring their first Growth Marketing Lead to take ownership of how they acquire customers, convert them and, over time, turn first-time users into valuable repeat customers.
It's an unusual opportunity: the pace, autonomy and building opportunity of a startup, but sitting inside a much larger established business with serious financial backing, an experienced leadership team, substantial technology resources and a £1.7m–£2m marketing budget to work with.
What will you actually be doing?
Initially, the priority is acquisition.
This is still an early-stage product. Before you can build sophisticated retention and lifecycle programmes, you need customers so your first job is to work out how to acquire the right customers at scale.
You'll take ownership of the performance strategy across channels including Google, Meta and emerging channels, alongside SEO and other acquisition opportunities. There are agencies and specialists to execute with you, so this isn't about spending your days inside every platform. You'll own the strategy, budget and commercial performance: where should we invest, what's actually working, what should we stop, where should the next £100k go, and are we acquiring customers who ultimately transact? And importantly, success isn't an MQL handed to Sales. There is no Sales handoff.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You'll be following the customer all the way from:
- Ad
- Website
- Sign-up
- First transaction
- Repeat transaction
- Revenue / LTV
That changes the nature of the role considerably.
You'll look beyond CTRs, CPLs and surface-level channel metrics to understand what actually creates commercially valuable customers.
Then the role gets broader.
As customer volume grows, so does your remit.
You'll increasingly work across the entire growth engine identifying where customers drop out of the journey and partnering with Product, MarTech and Content to improve it.
That could mean:
- Testing a new audience or acquisition channel because the economics look stronger.
- Identifying that one channel produces cheap sign-ups but poor-quality customers.
- Reworking a landing page because paid traffic isn't converting.
- Improving the journey between registration and first purchase.
- Building retargeting and re-engagement journeys for users who don't transact.
- Understanding why customers purchase once but don't return.
- Developing lifecycle activity that drives repeat usage and LTV.
- Improving attribution so investment decisions are based on revenue, not vanity metrics.
- Working with Product on experiments or features that could materially improve conversion.
You won't personally own every lever forever. You will own the growth problem and bring the right teams together to solve it.
The environment
This team operates more like a well-funded startup inside a major organisation than a traditional corporate marketing department.
The platform has its own leadership and dedicated Product and technology capability, and the team is deliberately being built with people who enjoy testing, learning and challenging assumptions.
It's collaborative and highly cross-functional. Marketing isn't handed a finished product and asked to promote it. Growth, Product, MarTech and Content are expected to work together, sharing data and deciding where the biggest opportunities sit.
You'll have senior visibility and genuine influence over how the platform scales, but you'll also need to be comfortable with ambiguity. This isn't an established growth machine where you're inheriting ten years of playbooks and optimising them by 5%.

What we're looking for
We're much more interested in how you've grown a digital product than whether you've worked in one particular industry.
You'll probably have strong experience across Performance Marketing / Growth, with enough depth in paid acquisition to confidently own significant budgets and challenge specialist agencies.
But you'll naturally think beyond the channel.
You'll understand what happens after the click and be comfortable looking at conversion, customer behaviour, attribution and commercial outcomes to decide what to do next.
Experience in a self-serve or online purchasing environment is particularly relevant — somewhere customers can discover a product and sign up, trial, subscribe, book or purchase without a salesperson closing the transaction.
You could come from SaaS, MarTech, FinTech, marketplaces, subscription, productivity or other digital-platform businesses.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who can look at imperfect data and say:
- “Here are the two or three biggest growth opportunities. Here's why I think they matter. Here's what I'd test first. And here's how we'll know whether I'm right.”
Why this one?
Because there aren't many opportunities where you get to be the first dedicated Growth hire for a genuinely early-stage product, while also having:
- £1.7m–£2m of budget.
- An established parent business behind you.
- A substantial Product and technology capability.
- A product already built and in market.
- Senior leadership committed to scaling it.
- And genuine ownership from acquisition through to revenue and repeat usage.
You get to build without spending your time worrying about whether the business will raise its next round.
